I don't think you can directly compare Diaz to Mane, they're just different types of player.

Mane in his first few seasons was electric and scored loads with Salah and Bobby between them. Last two seasons, Mane was a shadow of his former self and Diaz brought some dynamism back into the left hand side.
He doesn't score the same number of goals as peak-Mane, but he offers something different. He's unpredictable and has an edge to his game.
He can go missing without any service, but who wouldn't.

Think he'll be back to his pre-injury best this season and especially once it 'clicks' with Darwin up top...

There was no direct comparison made about them as players. The comment was about goal and assist returns.


If Diaz can rack up the sort of numbers that Mane was still putting up even when not at his best, then Diaz will have had an amazing season.


My comment was that we were a bit spoiled by having Mane and Salah putting up crazy numbers and as a result we maybe have slightly unrealistic expectations in terms of goal and assist returns for anyone else that comes into the team to play in their positions.

No idea on the wage deal. I'd be surprised as we're about second on wage spend.

But

If I was an asset someone thought I was worth a circa £50m capital spend and they "only" wanted to pay me £15m over 5years, I'd be asking questions.

Now looking our best goal threat. Fingers crossed he stays fit. Only 2 games in, but he seems to be keeping the ball less. At times he was guilty of holding on too long or trying to beat too many men. 15 goals would be a good return, 20plus and we're cooking on gas.

I always rated him, but it’s great that he looks more of a goal threat now. I’d like to see us go back to a front 3 with gakpo as the false 9. I think Jota is a great impact sub then.

Wouldn't surprise me, most of LC contracts now are heavily incentivised
