Played for the U21s again tonight. Got subbed off after an hour or so. Jay Spearing came on for him.

Ignoring that was probably the plan all along but if it's a phoneix from the ashes story, that's quite the starting point.

Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

By all accounts he had a decent enough game and has another hour's worth of getting match fit time under his belt.

Yeah I watched the extended highlights & he looked a cut above but you’d expect that tbh. It’s a great opportunity to get some minutes into his legs without the pressure or scrutiny of the press.

He semed to have to hold up his play a lot at times as he, unsurprisingly, seemed to be thinking a move ahead of the younger guys around him, but some tidy play and some decent passes that on another day might have yielded a chance or two. He came close ish to a goal from a header too.

How’d we go when Wee Jay came on? Did the rest of our players have to hold up play waiting for him to get into space?

NEW: Arthur Melo has recruited a physiotherapist, a fitness coach and a nutritionist to work with him daily as he looks to impress Jürgen Klopp and forge a lengthy career at Liverpool.

Arthur, 26, is determined to seize an unexpected chance to shine at Anfield and followed up a 90-minute run for Liverpool’s Under-21s against Leicester City on Saturday by playing for an hour of their Papa Johns Trophy 1-0 defeat by Rochdale on Tuesday.

The sessions are planned in conjunction with Liverpool’s medical staff. Fisiobox also work with Barcelona women star Alexia Putellas, the present holder of the Women’s Ballon d’Or.

Liverpool rejected suggestions circulating in Italy last week that the club were looking to send the player back to Juventus and Klopp recognises Arthur’s efforts as he seeks to impress. #LFC [paul joyce - times]

                          The Papa John trophy

Can only assume this is some kind of mocking award

Yeah apparantly he requested to be included in the u21 games rather than have time off like the other players who are not going to the internationals.

He certainly seems to want to put the extra work in in order to try and get up to speed asap.

Is giving the impression of having the right attitude so far.

If he's got talent and willing to graft, I'm betting he'll surprise a few.

Talent he has imo. Talent wise he has never looked out of place alongside other good players at Barca and Juve.

If he can show the right attitude and application with us, then he could be a very good deputy to Thiago. Not at Thiago's level of course but a tier or two below Thiago is still a good player.

Do hope he works out for us as we badly need an extra body and that little bit of extra quality as cover. If he and Thiago could manage 50 to 55 games between them, that would be great.
