    The Great Outdoor Games

Eurosport has been showing the Great Outdoor Games (perhaps due to the dearth of decent sport at this time of year but since it's Eurosport who have a fairly eclectic schedule then perhaps not). Has anyone seen it?

They have all sorts of incredibly dumb games like Log Running and Log Rolling (originally lumberjack sports I suppose although in the former it seems to help if you're Rocket's height and Marky's age). Best of all is Hot Zone which involves a human, a dog and a frisbee. It's against the clock and has all sorts of rules about the dog being off the ground when it catches the frisbee (annoyingly they don't reverse so the dog throws for the human to catch).

The commentary is sublime with remarks like "That dog is a great athlete" and, about a dog called Split who just fortunately caught the frisbee in the Hot Zone, "Great hustle from Split!"

    It's fantastically bad.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I assume you're all so busy watching it you haven't had a chance to reply yet.

Actually I did watch a little bit of it. It carried some entertainment value. The commentary had it's moments, and went from the ridiculous to the sublime.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
