Hatton vs Urango - the countdown

Good to hear hatton is back on track again now after admitting cutting corners for the Collazo fight. The fight is under 2 weeks away now.

With a lot of power in both hands. He is an offensive fighter, but is savvy enough to changes styles and fight on the counter when he has to.

Have watched him quite a number of times as an amateur, as he was based in Spain for a bit and fought in Europe a lot before turning pro.

I think it is a good move by Hatton to meet him before Juan has much experience at this level. Even so, he is a very dangerous fighter and I think that he will give Hatton more trouble than Collazo (who is fighting Shane Mosley in Febuary) did.

Fair play to Hatton for taking on fighters, who may not be known to the general public, but that are genuine threats and look to be potential future champs.

yeah fair play to hatton, but i do genuinely fear for his unbeaten record. light welter weight is the only division for him at the mo i think.

He has been a Light Welterweight since 2002, never had any trouble making the weight. I would imagine that he could lose some of his power if he moved to Welterweight, as I remeber reading somewhere that his weight between fights is only about 5 or 6 lbs above his fighting weight.

Some of the odds at the bookies have been quite laughable though.

Hatton has been 1/10, 1/12, and even 1/14 on. It will be a much closer fight than those odds suggest.

I stuck a bet on Juan to win at odds of 9/1 a few weeks ago. You can still get odds of 11/2 and 7/1 on him at the moment.

The odds on a draw caught my eye too, at the moment they are floating between 28/1 and 36/1, depending on where you go.

hmm interesting.
Although i do think that Hatton is the top light welterweight boxer in the world, since this Urango lad is a natural light welterweight, the bookies have every right to make Hatton favourite, he had dominated the division for a while now hardly ever looking troubled except for when he is cut which would be a concern of mine about Hatton (how easy he cuts when hit).
Still though, some good odds there on Urango, and fair play to him too for taking on Hatton. may partake in a bet on this one myself. one for a stoppage for hatton, the other for Urango points win(just in case with the odds).

Urango has an impressive proffesional record but also an excellent amature one, beating Miguel Cotto twice! I think this fight will be a real barnstormer but I think Hatton will get the TKO in the later rounds.
