    Peters Beats Toney.

Samuel Peters beat James Toney in their rematch yesterday.

There is no doubt in my mind that Peters won the fight, but I think the margin of victory was got wrong on the scorecards, I had him win by 4 rounds.

Peters made some comments after the fight, comparing his moves to Ali and Floyd Mayweather. Christ knows how he came to that conclusion.

A point that Toney made, in a most disparaging manner, but very valid in my opinion, was that Peters is supposed to be "a hell of a puncher" This is the preceived image of Peters, or at least, the one that is banded about by the fight press. But anytime I have watched him fight, he looks cubersome and not a really heavy hitter, more a grind you down with heay punches kind of guy than a guy blessed with genuine knock out power.

I'm very biased in this though, as I regard Toney as a legend in the game.
But it shows the weakness in the current heavyweight division when a fighter like Toney can move uup to Heavyweight for this length of time, and not get physically bullied by naturally bigger men, and the knockdown he suffered last night was the first he suffered since a peak Roy Jones knocked him down.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

    I love Toney.

"This is not a game. You do not play boxing."

"I'm not gonna box Ruiz. I don't box. I knock holes through people."

What do you make of Valero? Another KO last week. 21 straight. He wants Manny, although it would have to be in Tokyo or something given the scrambled state of his brain.

I like Edwin Valero. Hell of a KO rate so far. Hope to see him get a bit more exposure.

Love Toney as well. One of the best trash talkers in the game, and technically gifted.

I want to believe that Valero is as good as he looks in all these one round KOs, but have the nagging feeling that against someone like Manny he might end up looking a bit of a ****. That said, it was a decent scrap with Mosquera. Not that he's in Manny's league, but...

I know what you mean. Some fighters seem too good to be true. I have doubts about his chin myself, but the guy has plenty of other qualities. Would love to see him and Manny mix it up, but I won't hold my breath waiting for it.

Yeah, not being able to fight in the US will keep him out of a lot of big fights.

Think it could mean him missing out on all the top tier fights.

Barerra's had operations on subdural haematomas though, so I expect a legal challenge if he keeps on knocking mother****ers out and HBO realises there is serious corn to be made from the lad.

It's all politics. It will have to wait, as you say, until a big network wants the kid. Still stinks though, because his record alone should have been enough to drum up interest in him before now.
