    Tommy Morrison.....

It has been reported by The Arizona Republic that according to Randy Lang, a Glendale attorney, former WBO heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison, now 38-years old, has tested negative for HIV and the results of the test have been submitted to an expert appointed by the Arizona State Boxing Commission. Commission member John Montano witnessed the test and is waiting on a report from the expert.

Lang had hoped to have Morrison fight this Friday night in a four-round bout, but has stated that Morrison injured his hand sparring last Saturday and will need to have a x-ray. They will continue to pursue the license in the hopes that Morrison will fight in February, barring serious injury to the hand. Montano has also stipulated that due to his age, he will also need to see Morrison spar before any sort of consideration can be made for a license.

Morrison has not fought in ten years after testing positive for HIV, which he is now claiming was a false-positive.

Yeah I read about that. Crazy situation.

Tommy has bulked up a lot in the last two years, but there are a lot of unanswered questions for me with regards his testing.

If the guy was "false" tested, then he had his career and livelyhood taken away from him, and it could make for an interesting test case in some court.

But if his original testings were accurate, it could be a case of medical records getting "smudged" to get a fighter back.

          Yep.

I find the whole thing really bizarre.

Its good news if the guy is negative but I would have thought he would have had numerous tests over the past 10 years which would have all come back with possitive results.

To get tested once confirming you are possitive and then not get a second opinion is madness. He must have had more than one test.

You would have thought that he would have gone through a battery of tests and second opinions. Either way something stinks about this attempt at a comeback.

True, but what is a problem is the fact the guy gets diagnosed as being HIV positive on more than one occasion, which effectively ends his career in the ring, and has tested as HIV negative four times since December 2006.

                          No he apparently HAD HIV.

It wouldn't be the first case of the virus clearing. It's possible his immune system managed to fight the virus.

Really? I did not know that. Maybe there is some substance to it then.
