Hatton to be stripped of IBF title.

After managing to win back the title that he never lost he's apparently going to lose it again. On Saturday Nafouel Ben Rabah is fighting Lovemore N'Dou in a final eliminator and Hatton has been ordered to fight the winner but as we all know Ricky is fighting Castillo so the IBF have said that the final eliminator will actually be for the vacant title, unless Hatton fights either fighter first.

I think that this is a bad move and all it serves to do is discredit their own Championship. No fighter should lose his title outside the ring and exceptions should surely be made. Wouldn't it be better for the IBF to have their titles attached to Hatton Vs Castillo matces rather than Rabah Vs N'Dou?

Do you think that it's right or wrong of the IBF to do this?

Oh it is wrong. But when has that ever come into anything with any of the organisations behind boxing. It is a farce, but they will have their own objectives behind it, and lets be honest, the general public and casual fans will not pay any heed to whether one of the alphabet organisations should be discredited for their actions.

I see every action like this as another little nail in credibility of boxing. Long gone are the days when the best fought the best, and being champion of the world actually meant something.

All one has to do is look at the rise of UFC, Pride, and K1 amongst others, and look at some of the PPV figures. Only Oscar can match or beat their figures.

Boxing would need a complete overhall and to be rid of all the alphabet belts to regain it's position in the eye's of the world.

        totaly wrong. end of story.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

        * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

It looks like Hatton will fight N'dou next in Manchester and then Castillo in November just so that he can keep his title. If Hatton plans to put the Castillo fight back to defend the IBF title against N'dou in Manchester then why doesn't he just relenquish the belt, tell the IBF to piss off, and fight Witter instead? Apart from defending his title the N'dou fight is meaningless but the Witter fight means much more and would give him the chance to win the WBC belt and would probably be a bigger draw as a fight. It would also raise Hattons stock as the top Light-Welterweight in the world, should he win, and make the Castillo fight even bigger. As it is he should give up the belt and fight Castillo.

On one level boxing is such a pure sport, yet it is full of so much **** outside of the ring it's unbelievable.

It's things like this that devalue the sport; it just comes across as a sham.

Most of the belts should be merged and have one (at the most two) federations; the sport would be better controlled and might actually improve the spectacle for fans.

That would not go down well as there would be less chance to fleece the sports by the leeches that run it now.

In an ideal world, there would be one belt per weight division.

Well he's given up the title and will face Castillo in June. There will be a press conference on Monaday at some Casino in Mancland to announce the fight, both Castillo and Hatton will be present. Castillo will also be at Old Toilet on Saturday because he's apparently a filth fan and will be introduced to the vermin scum fans at half time. The fact that he's a scum fan makes me want Ricky to win even more.
