Maybe right against Canada, but now would have been a fine time to put in a decent bowling performance, alas against the super 8 we will know we will get hammered by the batsmen against the likes of this wayward bowling.

51-3 as I type.
It's a fairly pointless game. Yes we need a confidence boost, but the only important thing is the result.
Great news that the batsmen got some time in the middle, except Pietersen. Now our bowlers need to get some overs in and concentrate on line and length.
Canada were always going to have a thrash during the Power play because they have no realistic chance of winning.
SA and Aus would take our bowling attack apart. We're just there to make the numbers up

We need an Angus Fraser (metronomic and economical) and & Goughy (wicket taker & death bowler) our current crop of bowlers are truly awful as a unit and just do not put the opposition on the back foot in the power play overs from the off.
No doubt Flintoff & Monty are up there, but the bowling unit as a whole is not up there to winning World Cups.
Killer instinct and putting teams to the sword is severely lacking, we always seem to have periods of letting the opposition in somewhere along the line.
And then we have "world class" players such as Nixon & Lewis in the squad, still, we should enjoy the wins as they will be few & far between at this tourny.

I think we'll have a chance against Bangladesh and Ireland (if they both make it through).
The likes of Aus, SA, Sri Lanka, India (if they make it through) will be too good for us. We're lucky to have Canada and Kenya in our group.
Hoggard is our metronome (or the nearest we have to it). He should have been there and Harmisson (if he hadn't quit ODI's) would be our Gough equivalent.
Anderson and Plunkett are not up to it unfortunately.

Reason: Typed Bermuda when I meant Kenya

Where's the dot balls and the maidens from our bowlers, they really are not up to the required standard, and yet we have 18 counties and 100s of club cricketers to choose from and this is the best they can come up with.
Shows how soft and easy our current County system is.
