Vaughan & Joyce as opening batsmen that sets the standard, not at the races
Anderson & Mahmood as opening bowlers that set the standard, not at the races.

The rest are not that bad, just that our front line attack of batting & bowling is nothing to be scared of, and I'm sure the other teams just laugh at our line-up.

I would absolutley hate to be an England cricket selector at the moment. Only K.P would be a dead cert on my list. Nobody seems to have a consistent run of good form.

Who would your opening batters/bowlers be?

I really am at a loss who can turn in a performance when needs be, and this has gone on now for the last umpteen years.

2 openers dropped from the squad like Cook & Loye could really set a tone for the rest to follow, however, the cushy realms of the County system we have does not top class young hungry players make.

And why not Hoggard, at least he knows length & line, opening with Freddy with someone like Chapple as relief bowler.

Good win for Bangladesh. They are going to be one of the Favourites for the Next World Cup at Home.

South Africa's inability to change from Plan A was Badly exposed today

Calling on the likes of Glen Chapple really does show up the poor state of affairs that is English cricket.

He's been great for his county at times but really?

Only cos he plays for Lancs, but you're right, I couldn't name a decent bowler that keeps the RR checked and frustrates the opposition batsmen.

One day cricket doesn't mean you have to keep taking wickets, although it helps, it also revolves about tying them down a little at times, prob Giles as a second decent spinner could have done a decent job.

It seems ****ing obvious to me

                        1) Freddie opens with Bell
                        2) Vaughn at 3
                        3) Collingwood Keeper to accomodate and another specialist batsman and big hitter like Loye
                        4) Broad should be in the side instead of Mamood
                        5) Hoggard should play instead of Anderson
                        6) Freddie should open the bowling

If we made those changes we would do much better than we are now

someone draft a letter to Fletcher

My batting line-up for the next game would look like this:

                          Flintoff
                          Bell
                          Pietersen
                          Collingwood
                          Strauss
                          Vaughan
                          Bopara
                          Nixon

Bell did well enough yesterday to keep the openers spot. Flintoff HAS to open. We need someone who can go over the top in the powerplays, and it clearly ain't working for Freddie at number 6. He can have a Gilchrist-effect for us opening.

Pietersen is our best bat and your best should always come in at 3. Colly to move up to 4, and Strauss and Vaughan (two totally out of form but quality batsmen) dropped to 5 and 6.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Definitely a much poorer tourno without Pakistan and/or India. It is like a footy world cup without Brazil and Argentina.
