    THERE has been plenty of reaction to former NBA basketball player John Amaechi's revelation that he is gay.

    My favourite, for its reluctantly concealed macho hostility, came from Philadelphia 76ers forward Shavlik Randolph.

    "As long as you don't bring your gayness on me," Randolph said, "I'm fine."
