In all seriousness though it's just a little fishy that Coture, one of the most popular UFC fighters of all time, retires after being beaten about by Lidell. He then announces he is making a come back to UFC. Would you beleive it he walks straight into a heavyweight title fight against possibly the most unpopular UFC heavyweight champ in history and he beats him! despite giving away 6 inches in height a dozen years in age and about 40 pounds.

Fair play to Coture but there seems to be somthing amiss here.

Absolutely destroyed Sylvia. I always though he was very one dimensional and Randy just proved it.

I think he now faces Cro Cop though, the poor f*cker!

Hughes looked pretty poor I thought.

I bought it and watched it on PPV. It was ok, but I don't understand why the ref let them sit on their arse for so many minutes without any action.

And Sylvia was ****e. CroCop will destroy them all. CroCop has an awesome sprawl to avoid most take downs and if he exchanges like Sylvia did then he'll smash Randy. Wait till they recieve some good old liver kicks.

yeah I think Crocop wil kick **** out of either of them TBH, i think there could be a good fight awaiting crocop thoguh in the form of Arlovski if they ever get it on.

hughes is all about ground game, its a part of mixed martial arts, so we have to accpet it. however, i think the ground game is increasingly in decline depite coutoure and Hughes winning tonight, people take down defences are getting better and better.

I thought Coture was immense in that fight. The third round when he stood up with Sylvia and fought him at his own fight was excellent.

Randy Couture is one of the cleverest fighter around, and that is the only way anybody was going to beat Silvia. I listened to Randy’s commentary at the last Silvia fight and thought to myself he could realistically beat him if he ever came back. He talked about the secret of beating a big man like that is to fake constantly keep him guessing and that’s exactly what he did. Randy is a complete Geez, a true legend in MMA and possibly now the greatest of all time. He is a top bloke to boot. He beat Silvia fair and square. Many things the UFC may be, one thing it ant is bent. Like him or loath him Dana White is a straight down the line guy and runs the organisation the same. Its not perfect but and hell of a lot better than the boxing world it has taken over from.

Matt Hughes fight was brutal and if there was ever a dodgy decision it was not to stand that fight up in the 3rd round when Hughes did absolutely nothing to improve his position.

Great to see one of my favorite fighters back and meaner than ever, Rich Franklin ! top performance, back to his striking best. Macdonald is a ligimate contender and a very good one at that for Rich to beat the **** out of him so comprehensively is a real statement of intent.

Overall, I enjoyed that card with the exception of the Matt Hughes Fight, crap as always. You can tell Silvia hangs around with Hughes when he showed his class and said he was carrying an Injury at the post fight interview, oppps bad choice, the fans cant stand him even more now.

That other fighter was it the punisher ?was impressive as was the Dane, seen him fight in Pride, he is no joke

Couture v CroCop will be an interesting fight.

Because CroCop has a great sprawl and is quicker on his feet then Sylvia, so it will be a challenge to take him down. Then if Couture tries to stand up with CroCop he'll face one of the most devastating strikers in the sports history. And he won't just be facing punches but the threat of liver kicks and head kicks.

Does Sylvia throw any kicks? It was only the 2nd time i've seen Sylvia fight and he looked very limited and as mentioned, one dimensional.

How good was the first punch that knocked Sylvia down though?!

Also, the PPV here only showed 5 fights, don't they usually have more?

PS. I still haven't seen Pride 33.

Also to me it looked like he was not shooting in on him in the tradition sense but more of a wrestlers take down from the side, this combined with his constant head movement, rotation and faking had Siliva confused as ****. Silvia has great stand up, excellent ground game and is very well versed at submissions. Randy just put on a masterclass

agree with everything you said there.
Was supprised with Sobral against "the punnisher" Sobral is a lethal fighter normally, has all the tools, ground and on his feet, but seems to try the wrong thing at the wrong time of late, totally telegraphed his knees and deservedly got knocked out.

Randy is world class on the ground, and I mean that, his Greko roman wrestling is top class, he can hang with the best in the world on the ground. As you say, such a #clever fighter.
But I fear for his safety against Crocop.
