Maybe you should have lamped him when you were in the same club.
    i did lol
When he is out, if anyone looks crooked at him or any of his bros mates etc, there is nearly a fight every time, this is not just a once off, but every time i have seen him out. Brian Peters has been seen in the local night club with him, and when Brian is going for a piss say in the urinals, Bernard will stand in the middle of the bog with his arms folded making sure nobody says anything to him, a bit OTT.
I think that will change now though as he is becoming more of a recognisable figure.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

    * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

That is crazy stuff. Sounds a bit like small man syndrome to me. He is trying to show how hard he is at each turn. I never knew he was that type. I have to say that hearing things like that about fighters really piss me off. I wish that coaches/managers etc had the morals and conviction to punish fighters for that kind of thing, but money is the name of the game and he will probably have yes men around him. At least at amateur level you can install a sense of discipline if you have the right coaches.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

I think your right with the small man syndrome,
alot of it has to do with his upbringing, nobody was allowed say anything to b
Bernard, even the last time i talked to him when he was out, there were people checking me out.
His father is a good man though, im sure he would never advise him wrong.
One thing i can say for the lad, boxing is his life, always was, its been in the family for years, all his brothers and his father, he was more or less brought up in a gym. Which goes some way to explaining his incredible array of punches and hand speed.

I have to say he has gone up in my eyes a lot, from an in ring point of view, in the last couple of years. He has shown vast improvements and shown abilities that I thought he did not have. I am curious about his chin though, I know he can hit, his hand speed and more importantly, his accuracy is very good.

He has been put on his back before, he got up off the canvas in the states to come back and knock one lad out. He does generally read his opponents body shape very well though.
As the commentators said yesterday though, the one thing i'd like to see him improve on, not that I think he is that weak, but just get a little bit more strength before he goes at the world title.

I'm curious to see how he does against higher calibre fighters, especially away from the Point.

yeah me too, its not a totally new territory for him though, fighting abroad, he spent some time in the states with Freddie Roache, training with tough mexicans including sparring session with Johnny Tapia.
He got the chance to fight on the reality TV show in the states, where they make try and make it to the top. but he turned it back, wanting to do it the real way, so he cant say he was looked upon favourably.
