The trouble with Fletcher is that he is an habitual criminal who accepts arrest as an occupational hazard and presumably accepts imprisonment in the same casual manner. However, if he has learned his lesson I think he should be freed.

anyone calling for botham to have any involvement in English cricket needs their head examining. Brilliantly talented as he was, he was clueless as a captain and his off the field antics have no place in the modern game. Botham would prepare the side by taking them down the pub for a pre match piss up.

What English cricket requires is for the sacking of those people who are responsible for the shocking squad selections for the last few years. Whether that be Fletcher and the selecters or just the selectors i dont know.

Michael Vaughan is no-where near good enough to open the batting at ODI level.

Kevin P is the only world class specialist batsman England have got. It may not be so wise to make him captain, let him focus on batting. You need that from him

Why the hell is Alaister Cook not in the squad?

Monty Panesar is shockingly overrated and over-hyped. He is NOT that good. England need a world class spinner, not an average one. I blame the media for hyping him into this team

Mahmood is very very wasteful. Far too often he bowls loose deliveries. He either needs to become more consistant or won't last in the team

Paul Nixon- WTF? Whatever happened to having a wicket-keeper who can bat? I thought it was pretty obvious that if you want to win anything at all you need to get a keeper that can score plenty of runs. Surely somewhere in England such a cricketer exists.

Jamie Dalrymple, Liam Plunkett, Jon Lewis etc etc. Average average average.

Players to keep-

Kevin P, Flintoff, Collingwood, Bell, Bopara, Harmison, Hoggard, Stuart Broad (or is he more hype?)

I would make him the one day captain. He was the only one against SA that looked genuinely pissed off with England's display in the Field. Very Good Fielder and looks like the type who will thrive with added responsibility.

I would build the one day squad around him and KP.

I cant understand why Hoggard wasnt selected (Injured?) He would be my first choice Bowler. I saw quite a bit of him when he was playing in SA Domestic Cricket. Very Clever player and has ability to adjust his game and Bowling as conditions require. Ideal 1 day Bowler.

He's got to go - he's the Sven Goran Erikkson of cricket (comparing the high point of the Ashes with the 5-1 defeat of Germany and the subsequent decline of both teams).

The players seem to like and respect him but he doesn't inspire them IMO and appears to be years behind tactically at the one-day level.

Prior to Fletcher taking over you were a shambles. He took you through some dozen or so test series with only one defeat and took you to second in the test world ranking.

Can't really ask for any more than that.

The Ashes aside Feltcher has been a brilliant test match coach however you are correct regarding his suitibility as a one day coach. The obvious solution would be to replace him with a full time one day coach and overhaul the selection process. If Fletchers pride will allow this to happen is another matter. What the ECB want to avoid here is an acrimonoius situation between themselves and Fletcher who brought them so much sucess in the past.

As for people like Botham and Gatting. They can **** right off. What have they done in coaching that gives them the right to call for Fletchers head?

Sure but Let's be realistic. There is no side in International Cricket that would not have been beaten 5-0 by that Aussie side at Home with a point to prove

Anyway he's gone now. Let's see who steps up for the job. I dont care who it is, if they do not change the WHOLE System, he will have no chance of doing Better
