Whereas you had a 1 in 2 chance of being correct and still got it wrong !!!

Actually - I don't think the fight was as good as I, or alot of others, thought it was gonna be.

I thought De La Hoya looked sloppy and past his best, but as Mayweather says himself, his defence is so good, he has a tendancy to be able to make a fighter look bad.
I guess you could draw parallels with the Liverpool of today.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I enjoyed the fight alot. It was interesting to see how both fighter figured each other out. Floyd was the clear winner but that's because Oscar faded IMHO. I'm not taking anything away from Mayweather because he was excellent but I couldn't help wondering during the fight how he would have got on against a prime De La Hoya.

the fight was very tactical it was like they were being managed by rafa , how de le hoya hardly took a swing in the first round and came out all guns blasing in the second, i thought it was a brilliant fight, i was tensed all the time hoping de la hoya would stand strong and maybe beat him. la hoya fought a better fight imo controlled it and was unlucky with some of his punches if he had had one or two heavy shots in he might have won it. i think that piece of **** mayweather just managed to win by one round. it was wonderfull to see how de la hoya was after the game a true sportsman...

Mayweather will never go up as a legend as Oscar is, and that's a fact. He was just letting Oscar do all the attacking work. He just is a classless world champion and he won't be remembered in years to come. He just beat an older Oscar and even then it was a tight match. Oscar in his heyday would have stuffed the life out of Mayweather before 4/5 rounds.

Disagree. There are not to many undefeated Retired World Champs, let alone one in Five different Weight divisions.

He might be arrogant, but Nobody has beaten him in 38 Fights and he's fought everyone available.

He will be remembered without a doubt

... as a good boxer, not a legend. Oscar is considered by may to be one of the all time greats.

If Mayweather is undefeated fighting poofs, then all to his credit.

Even when one of the poofs was Oscar?

Oscar was good, but never one of the all time Greats. He was a Big Fish in a small pond. The Best of his Era - Yes, But a very poor Era compared to previous ones.

Oscar is 34 year old now, so that is irrelevant. Oscar did all the boxing on Saturday / Sunday but obviously was never able to make that count. I hate boxers with Mayweather's style, big time, but I'm no expert.

It's sufficient to put him in the all time list of great boxers. As for him being in a poor era, that's subjective. The facts doesn't lie as to whether Oscar was the best or not.

                        You are biased here

You say Mayweather is not a legend because he fought nobody good or at their Prime

But Oscar is an All Time Great, because he was the Best of his Era, even if the Era was a poor one

Bottom line is this Mayweather beat everyone he fought against. The Best available. He even fought in 5 weight divisions chasing the Best available. That must make him the Best of his Era. So why is he not an All time Great? He couldnt do more than he did. He fought the Best available. It's not his fault that they were poofs as you put it.

Go and look at the only other undefeated Retired World Champ - Marciano. He also was champ in a period considered weaker than others. He beat ageing Legends, but he's considered an All Time Great

De La Hoya has less claim of being the Best of his Era because he has now lost 5 times in 43 fights.

In the early rounds of the fight when Oscar was pressing and getting his shots off - I couldn't help thinking that Ricky Hatton could do that - but better. THe downside of this would be that Ricky would get hit more than Oscar did.

If Hatton comes through his next fight, is it beyond the realms of possibility that Mayweather will have a rethink and the match made between the two?

It's all about opinions. I don't like Mayweather's style. Oscar is close to Ali than this pantomime of a boxer.

Just my opinion, but Mayweather would be far too strong and technical for Hatton. Hatton would be best off avoiding Mayweather. IT may be irrelevant anyway as Mayweather is set to retire.

                                Mayweathers style? really.
Im not trying to jump and the bandwagon here having a go at you lol.
But Mayweather is one of the most technical fighters of this generation and many others. He comes very close to Roy Jones at his best in terms of technique and his defencsive work is excellent, can he really be faulted for that?.
Sure sometimes his fights look boring because he is so good defensively. But I dont think people should knock his style over it.
