    Calzaghe vs Sven Ottke?

Strong whispers doing the rounds at the moment about this match up.

Ottke has been training for a number of months now, and his name has popped up in a few circles, mostly met with sniggers and rolling of eyes. But the talk is that Warren's people have been in touch, and that an August or maybe July clash with Calzaghe could be on the cards.

Sven retired in 2004, and is 39 years of age (40 next month). Henry Maske's victorious comeback after ten years away from the sport seems to have lit the touchpaper in the minds of quite a few retired fighters at the moment.

Don't see this one happening myself, but would not put it past Team Warren :whatever: to try and put it together as a meaningful bout.

And to think there were people who chastised Ricky Hatton for leaving the clutches on Frank Warren.

To me, that was Hatton's greatest win.

anyone outside of the Warren camp?
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

        * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

I see Dunne is fighting in the Point again next month. Never knew that Reidar Walstad was who he was fighting next. Another early night for Dunne methinks. Walstad has not progressed past six and eight round bouts despite being a pro for five years now. Should be entertaining while it lasts though, Walstad normally likes to trade.

I know nothing of this Walstad chap, but if they way his management are also wrapping him in cotton wool is anything to go by, your right, it should be an early night, how many big impressive non world title fights can Bernard go before getting restless, at this rate, he will win a world title and only have a few defences is successfull when you lok at the recnt trend of boxers threathening to retire at about 30.

What a surprise. Jermaine Taylor to Sven Ottke. I'm sure when Joe wins that one we'll be told how Frank Warren is lining up a fight with Ronald 'Winky' Wright.:whatever:

Taylor was never a genuine possibility. Was no way that Warren was going to let that match up happen. Warren didn't like Taylor's response to fighting Calzaghe. Taylor said yes, and went on record that for the right money he would fight in Wales.

JT would have fought Calzaghe, but Warren got cold feet as soon as Taylor went on record.

There was an insulting offer talked about for Taylor to fight Calzaghe, plus all the options were being firmly stacked in Calzaghe's favour.

Taylor is a class act who walks the walk, and is quite the straight talker.

Is this actually going to happen or is this Warren talking crap again?

I would be shocked but delighted if Calzaghe went over to fight Kessler. It is the obvious fight in the division. Kessler has been looking for Joe for a bit now.

What worries me is Warren's past record of promising one fight and delivering another. The Ottke link is still ongoing too.

Ottke and his representitive were approached. He gave a radio interview confirming he had been approached with the view of a once off bout with Calzaghe.

Keep an eye out for Taylor coming over though, Warren's mouth may have gotten him into a corner he cannot get out of this time. I am sure that Warren thought that when he mentioned Taylor's name in the post fight interview after Calzaghe vs Manfredo, that Taylor would not start to openly and publicly say that he would fight Calzaghe and that for the right money he would come up a weight division and would come to Wales.

He put the ball firmly back in Warren's court by saying he would fight Calzaghe. Interesting to see what Warren does now that the fighter he claimed he wanted for Joe, has said he wants to fight.

because warren is a ****** should not take away from calzaghes achievements - it seems that every ****er on here hates calzaghe, granted im welsh but above that im a boxing fan and have a decent knowledge of the sport, and j.c has done bloody well...he fights and beats whoever is put in front of him....as for the ottke fight, it is nothing more than a rumour at this stage yet still he gets slated.
And trust me when i say Calzaghe would easily stop jermaine taylor, and if anyone fancies those odds im willing to wager £500.00 on exactly that result. (provided it happens within the next 12 months or else age may be a deciding factor, even though i doubt it).

Yeah but Dunne has improved more as a pro than Walstad has.
