    Anyone for golf?

Personally i love a round or two of golf, just like some of the lads at LFC. I always find it a nice wind down after a stressed day reading the transfer rumours. My handicap is currently +24, what's everyone else's?

P.S Hi, this is my very first post in these glorious forums.

I took golf up again last year and can't stop playing at the minute. I wish I ad learnt to drive because when i finish college on monday i would spend all of my time on the course. Still don't have a handicap, but i have one card, pretty poor though, I went round the front 9 in 42, which is 8 over and that included an 8 and a 7,(don't ask).

As for the back 9 I was absolutey ****e, going round in 58, which is god knows how many, still get a couple of consitent round in and i should be in the teens.

P.S. shouoldn't this thread be in chat chat chat?

Welcome to the site mate. THis is a stressed bunch of forumites at the moment due to the lack of transfer activity so don't take the current state of the forum as the norm...................it's usually worse than this !

Yeah golf - my clubs are in the loft of the garage and haven't seen the light of day for over 5 years.

As Colemere said - your thread may get moved mate.

I play off 11 at the mo, hoping to get into single figures this or next year, I only play in the summer though which doesnt help me, I cant stand muddy golf courses and rain.

what golf balls do you all use? I prefer anything nike but i am also partial for a bit of titleist also. Is there really much of a difference between them all?

Don't know about their being much difference, i Generally use top flite but i find them quite difficult to put with as i don't have a good feel for them, Nike and Callaway are the best for putting I find. But I am waiting to see what the low handi's say.

Been golfing abt 1 year now. Get on the course every 6-weeks or so. Play in the high 90's and low 100's. Hoping to get some consistency. The 2 good golfers on this site are PTP & Shaggy.

kinell, it would probably take me 10 tears to be able to play off 5

The way I play, I use good 2nd hand balls, Titleist or Dunlop. This way I wouldn't feel so bad when the ball lands in the water or gets lost.

Anyone who is serious about golf and it's not just a one year summer fad thing then my advice is to invest in good clubs. Mr Callaway and the rest aren't the most expensive for nothing they really do know their stuff. A couple of my mates have just started playing and have bought cheap starter sets which are fine but if they get serious about playing all the time I've told them to put their hand in their pockets and buy some good clubs they really do go further, get more spin and are nicer and easier to hit.

It's the same with golf balls the harder the ball the harder it is to control. I'd stay away from things like Ultras and topflites it's like hitting a brick. I use the titlest pro v 1 but they are £10 for 3. Srixon are pretty good along with Callaway and nike and I would always go for the balata balls.

                        I hope this helps.

Are you using blades or cavity back irons? I've invested in set of Taylor Made irons (R7 XD). Love them, very forgiving and great fro beginners like myself.

                            Good choice mate.

I'm using Callaway X-14 pro series at the min. I haven't been playing much over the past couple of years but I've really started to play a lot again and want to try and get to scratch by this time next year. I need to invest in some new clubs really but I'd need to get measured up first.

How about the Callaway X-20 Tour or TaylorMade R7 TP (Select Fit System)
