74 should of been so much better - Par is 70 - It's was pretty windy and I made bogie on 3 holes down wind which was stupid. I found out it's actually a 3 round comp final round next week. I'm in the top 5 at the min so with a bit of luck I'll be picking up a big cup next week.Originally posted by JCase View PostHow did it go mate?**** OFF HICKS AND GILLETT WE DON'T WANT YOU.

I'm currently using a Monza Rossa putter by TaylorMade (Mallet). I don't quite like the feel of it, when putting it feels a little stiff and seems a little light. I would prefer something with a softer feel and heavier. Was thinking about the White Hot putter. Wld love a Scotty Cameron but its out of my price range.

Good stuff. Keep your composure and you'll do just fine

That's the problem I just can't seem to beat 74 at the min. That was the worst score I could of shot last night considering how I played. I've got a mental block at the mine but when I do break it I can imagine it will be for an under par round.Originally posted by JCase View PostGood stuff. Keep your composure and you'll do just fine

4 over in windy conditions is not a disgrace. I'm sure you'll get a kind break and get an under par round.Originally posted by Pacman View PostThat's the problem I just can't seem to beat 74 at the min. I would give my left nut to shoot 4 over in impecable conditions never mind crappy windy ones. Did you get to try out the new driver?Originally posted by Pacman View PostThat's the problem I just can't seem to beat 74 at the min. A lot of people run a race to see who is fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

No it's still on order should be with me some time next week. I just get frustrated because I've played in 8 singles comps this summer and everytime I've shot 75-74 and almost everytime that was the worst I could of shot.Originally posted by rowanad View PostI would give my left nut to shoot 4 over in impecable conditions never mind crappy windy ones. Doesn't bother me - In fact I prefer to practice on my jack jones.Originally posted by Colemere View PostWhat's people's opinion on playing by yourself, I want to play today but nobody wants to go and i don't know if I will enjoy 18 holes by myself.

She gave it up about 5 years ago due to back problems and sheer lack of time. She still has her clubs and can occasionally be tempted out of retirement to play my lad. She started to play because my Dad left us and on the day he left he said to her " You need to do something - here's a set of clubs, I've paid for 12 lessons with David at Staverton"Originally posted by Colemere View PostWhat's your mum off then?
Of course, David wasn't the famous fella he is now, then. Nice chap though.I live with Steptoe.

Yep me too. No one to disturb your rhythm and also means you can play the same shot several times or putt out a couple of times. Practice rounds are exactly that.Originally posted by Pacman View PostDoesn't bother me - In fact I prefer to practice on my jack jones.
Good luck next week. I shot an 87. Should have been much better but the rain was pretty consistent from hole 11 and I was properly wet by 15 and that really knocks my concentration plus putting becomes a lottery as the greens slow down.
Plus point means I can go lower than that in better conditions though. Are you the Judean People's Front?

Trouble is with me that I'm a creature of habit. When I was in playing at first I used any old ball. Got myself into the 20's and used Nike Power Distances but as I improved I tried the Titleist Nxt's on recommendation and have used them ever since. Only trouble I find is that on solid courses and greens its like playing to concrete.Originally posted by rowanad View PostGive Taylormade TP Reds a try. Bit more durable than the Nike Platinums and some crazy geezer on ebay is selling them for £22 a box. They are pretty long too.
A mate says to try ProV1's but I have and find I've lost distance, but with improved feel but the issue is that I don't hit my short irons that high and therefore, the ball is coming in flatter with a lower club - so no ProV1's just yet. Better feel though around the greens.
I have used some Callaway warbirds (freebies from a golf day) and liked them but I've run out now. If I'm going to get swayed to another ball, now is the time. Might try a sleeve of Taylor Mades on my next practice rounds. Are you the Judean People's Front?
