He was dirty at times, but it would be churlish to dismiss him as a dirty fighter though. At cruiserweight he was an unbelievable fighter, and his raw courage defined many of his fights at heavyweight. He was a world class boxer who often used dirty tactics, but there are many fighters past and present that used headbutts, eyepokes, rabbit punches etc etc just as often.

Fantastic fight. The best I've seen but I wouldn't recommend watching it.
      Another MASSIVE game

For me it would have to be
        Liston v Patterson 1 & 2
        Clay v Liston 1
        Leonard v Hearns 1
        McCallum v Watson

You have to watch any of Sonny Listons earlier fights to appreciate what Clay/Ali achieved to win the title. Leonard v Hearns showed how quickly any fight can change. McCallum v Watson is a lesson in how tough the game can be.

I (vaguely) remember seeing that fight when I was just a kiddie.

As I remember, it's pretty short - about four/five rounds or so?

Still, the most brutal fight I've ever seen bar none, they just stand toe to toe leathering the **** out of each other.

I don't think they even throw any jabs or attempt any blocks do they?

          Haymaker Central!

Great fight. Apparently they really really hated each other, and in the build up to the fight would phone each other up in the middle of the night and tell them how they were gonna kill them and stuff! Classic!

Another fight I'd maybe mention, but I'm pretty hesitant to as it's so sick, would be the Benn vs McClellan fight. I watched it live, and it was a real rollercoaster of emotions. Me and my Dad watched it together, and went from leaping out of our chairs like madmen screaming "GOWAN SON! ****IN' HIT 'IM" to numbly watching the events unfold afterwards in near shock.

Amazing fight, but desperately sad outcome

Gatti Vs Mayweather. Not a great fight but a superb performance from Mayweather.

                Cotto Vs Torres.

McGuigan's World Title win at Loftus Road against ... sorry I have forgotten his name, but I seem to remember that was a great fight.

Calzaghe v Lacey THAT was a boxing lesson.

                    IMO the best fight ever.

                      I would recommend:

                      Marvin Hagler v John Mugabi.

Tony Sibson v Frank De Luca.

The latter especially is an old fight but it was an out and out battle and one of the best fights i have seen.

If memory is correct that was Eusebio Pedroza.
He wasnt at his peak when he fought McGuigan but Barry was superb that night and it was a great fight.

McGuigan also had another fight before he won the title, i think it may have been Juan Laporte but i may be mistaken (will try and find out) but another cracking bout also.

Are you talking about the fight against Julian Jackson when Jackson hit Herol with one of the sweetest punches you will ever see?
Herol was out cold before he hit the canvas.

Honeyghans defeat of Donald Curry was a great fight IMO and a magnificent achievement although it probably wouldnt go down as a classic.

                                Alan Minter v Marvin Hagler.

One of the first fights i ever saw, and an outstanding display of boxing by Hagler who utterly destroyed Minter in 3 rounds i think.

Fight was at Wembley Arena and after the fight Hagler and his corner men were bombarded with bottles and coins etc while still in the ring.

Hagler said after the fight that he would never box in the UK again and im almost certain he didnt.
