Big weekend of boxing coming up.

Or more like a big night of boxing.

On the various ITV channels we're getting the Khan Vs Limmond fight and Nicky Cook fighting for the vacant WBO title. Then on sky we have the following fights.

    WBO Welterweight title
    Antonio Margarito v Paul Williams
    10 Rounds Welterweight
    Arturo Gatti v Alfonso Gomez
    IBF Welterweight title
    Kermit Cintron v Walther Matthysse

Shoud be a good night of boxing. I'm looking forward to seeing Gatti again but i'm hoping that this will be his last fight. Getting to see Margarito will be good aswell. The guy's an absolute monster!

Who's your picks to win the fights?

Want Margarito win as I really like him but have a sneaky feeling for Williams here.

    Gatti UD, just about.

    And Cintron to stop Mattysse.

Think Kev Mitchell is fighting this weekend aswell.

Is Gatti shot though? He reinvented himself but his stock has fallen again IMO

As a top level fighter he has nothing left to offer but I think he's carefully selected Gomez for this fight. I exepct Arturo will KO Gomez in the middle - late rounds or at least win by a wide points margin.

Can't remember ever seeing Gomez fighting, chances are I have seen him befre though, but if Gatti as you say, should win by a wide margin on points or stop he, he can't be that good right? Gatti is a warrior and all, but as Les says, he has looked a bit shot lately.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Alfonso Gomez is best known for being one of the boxers to appear in the first series of The Contender. He was the one who beat Manfredo in the first fight. Manfredo was later reinstated after a fighter dropped out and beat Gomez in a re-match.

Gomez was little know before he entered into The Contender and hasn't fought anyone of note since.

I give him a punchers chance but that's it. He might get lucky but I think Gatti will be far to experienced and powerful for him.

me too. I just cought the third round, judging by it, I think Kahn will win. even if he did loose the round.

The two rounds that i've seen have been pretty even.

Limmond telegraphing his punches a bit, Kahn on the other hand seems to have found the range better.

yes it looks an even enough fight.
