indoor i think it is.Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

THAT is why I've nicknamed him Chicken Joe. Spot on Chris.Originally posted by Chris View PostIt's a disgrace that one of the self claimed best boxers ever has never topped a bill in the States at 35 years old. Year after year its excuse after excuse on why its never happened and it does my head in.
I actually think he's a great lad and a supremely talented boxer but serious questions need to be asked about him/his management/or both about how his career has gone imo. Not in that sense that he's had a **** career because its far from it, he's unbeaten, is a multi millionaire and has fought infront of big crowds at home but in the sense of why theres a lack of big names on his record and why he's never done America.
Surely he must look at Hatton now and be jealous? He ****ed Warren off and is now topping bills in the states with there now talk of fighting the best pound for pound in the World or a boxing legend in De La Hoya.
Kessler is a good choice next but despite Kessler being good, next best behind Joe it still strikes me as the safe option when he could be fighting a massive name in the States instead, then again with big crowds in Wales going to his fights i'll be surprised if it ever changes, Warren certainly wont so its up to Joe.
73,000 for the Rumble in the Jungle if my memory serves but as Bazza said - biggest indoor audience (which pisses me off cause don't you just KNOW that Warren and Chicken Joe will spout off about it at EVERY opportunity to deflect any criticism away from the real issues?. GRRRRRRR !!!!!!!)Originally posted by Chris View PostBe the biggest boxing crowd ever or something wont it? Sure I read that somewhere.Liverpool born and bred.

Howard, I would be interested to know which fighter you feel would be a career defining fight for Calzaghe?Originally posted by Howard_lfc View PostIt's just me havin' a pop at him since he chose to fight some bum from the telly instead of looking for this career defining fight which he's been banging on about for the last couple of years whilst telling anyone who'll listen that he's the best in the world.
I still think Calzaghe punches like girl.

His career defining fight now if he beats Kessler will possibly be against a faded Bernard Hopkins...... He could and should have been put in with the likes of Hopkins and Taylor ages ago and if he'd have lost he'd have had time to come back and avenge his defeat. Nowadays though - his hands are so fragile that he's going from fight to fight probably not knowing if it'll be his last so he's simply preserving his record.Originally posted by marcus50bucks View PostHoward, I would be interested to know which fighter you feel would be a career defining fight for Calzaghe?
