    De La Hoya Vs Hatton?

I saw this in The Mirror today

    What do you guys think?

OSCAR De La Hoya has targeted Britain's Ricky Hatton for a possible clash next year.

The Mexican-American 'Golden Boy' said: "If that fight does get made, fans all over the world will be ecstatic.

"Hatton comes to fight. And that's what I love. If we ever do it, it will be a heck of a show, that's for sure."

Hatton, who scored an impressive fourth-round knock-out of Mexican Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas last month, said: "It would be an honour to share a ring with a modern day legend like Oscar.

"It's the sort of fight that secures your legacy. It would be great in England, in a football stadium, or in America.

"I'd also like to fight Floyd Mayweather, but if Floyd won't fight me maybe Oscar would. He's never dodged anybody."

Hatton to win mainly due to the body shots....I like Oscar and he is undoubtedly a modern day great but In my opinion he is past his best and Hatton will have him.

Will be a good fight though.

I have tons of respect for Hatton, probably more than any other boxer still boxing today, because of his attitude, he hides from nobody, even after having some tough fights at Welterweight, now he wants to fight legendary fighters that have operated above that weight.
I do think though the chances are it could end in defeat for Hatton against either fighter, especially Mayweather.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

        * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

If DLH is in good condition for making that weight 147 (I think its highly unlikely though) i'd be shocked if Hatton beat him.

You what? Ricky would outwork him from start to finish - and probably stop Oscar in the late rounds.

I can see I'm gonna make a few quid if this fight is made.

If this fight is made in a big venue over here somewhere then I'll be there - along with Mrs Howard_lfc (who loves boxing).

Maybe mate, I dont think you'll get the chance though as I cant see Oscar going down to 147 again, he hasnt fought at that in years and will struggle like **** making it.

Apparently Oscar's walking around at 150 at the moment so you never know.

i'll take that bet think we are better off waiting till we find out more details though, they may not even be fighting yet.

I'll take 50 mate, DLH is bigger, stronger and a better boxer. Mayweather only just beat him and he's far quicker than Hatton and a lot better defensively. Think Oscar still has the speed to catch Hatton with some good work and stop him and I dont think Hatton will be able to push him around like he does to a lot of others.

It's all about Oscar's condition and desire for me, if he makes the weight ok and really wants it i'd back him all day long but theres always that lingering doubt and could he be Gatti in waiting.

Of course Hatton could outwork him and win, he's got the better work rate but I dont think it'd happen.

Think Ricky needs it at Wembley aswell as has been talked about, think the ref wouldnt let him hold a lot in the US and then theres the judges.

All this said, I dont think it'll happen making my whole post a waste of time
