Who wins this one? I fancy Pavlik to knock Taylor out but on the other hand this might just be kick up the arse Taylor needs.

Taylor will bore his way to a win, although he'll have to stop being as lazy as he sometimes is otherwise Pavlik will stop him. Taylor seems to get a lot of help off judges though aswell so I'd say UD Taylor.
I'd love to see him properly switched on for the 12 rounds instead of his usual "Oh christ, I cant wait to get out of here" look.

That's the thing with Taylor. You can clearly see the talent is in there bursting to get out but he just never seems to use it. He dodges his way through 12 boring rounds and refuses to be drawn into a fight. no way will he be allowed to do that to Pavlik that's why I think it might be the kick up the backside that he needs. Pavlik will come forward swinging and make Taylor fight.
Taylor seems to be in the game for the money and not for the love it.
I, like you, have got a feeling that if he doesn't up his game Pavlik will walk straight through him and stop him in the middle - late rounds. There's absolutely no doubt about Pavliks heart but there is about Taylor. This fight has been set up at the Boardwalk in Atlantic City so that Pavlik can take Taylors belts and fill the void in Atlantic City that's been left by Gatti.Babel fanclub member # 4!!!

Its a shame really isn't it? It pisses me off seeing someone like that with so little amibition in fights. Take his last fight, Spinks has only ever been stopped once so fair enough he might not knock him out but Taylor is bigger, stronger and far more talented so go for it, bully him round the ring, go for a knockout but he just seems content with doing as little as possible and hoping he gets the decision. His corner were going absolutely crazy at him but he just ignored the advice all the time, late on in the fight it was clear the cards would be close (if judged properly) yet he still doesnt step up his game.Originally posted by kurtangle01 View PostThat's the thing with Taylor. I expect him to eventually get caught out when he doesnt give a **** or where the judges arent so kind then I think he'll just disappear into obscurity having made his cash and the unbeaten record gone. He could quite easily have 4 defeats on his record but he's been saved by the judges each time in close fights. It'll be interesting this one and he needs a big performance as he aint to popular now out there apparently.
"Bad intentions" is one of the most laughable nicknames in boxing at the minute, his nickname should be "No intentions but to throw a few jabs and hope for a decision"Last edited by Chris; 24-07-07, 11:19 PM.

Spot on about the judges aswell. Hopkins beat him twice imho but Taylor somehow managed to get the win. Another good point about the Spinks fight. Zab Judah went into spinks' home territory and stopped him in front of his hometown crowd. Taylor is much bigger and stronger than Judah, and probably more talented, yet he never wanted to fight.
Every time I see Taylor fight I feel short changed. I think Pavlik will make him fight though. I can't help but think that Manny Steward tells Taylor to fight a certain way but he just ignores him, goes on the run for 12 rounds, and picks up his multi million dollar pay cheque at the end.
When Taylor was interviewed by Larry Merchant after the Spinks fight he was asked about whether he wanted Calzaghe or Pavlik next. Taylors response was "I'll fight whoever pays me the most money." To say Larry Merchant looked disgusted is an understatement. The answer by Taylor basically summed up what we already know. He's only in it for the money and that motive will only get him so far because when he does eventually get dragged into a fight he wont have the heart to get through it.Last edited by kurtangle01; 24-07-07, 11:34 PM.Babel fanclub member # 4!!!

Yeah I remember shaking my head at that mate, someone with that much talent and not using it all is sh*t, I know money is a big part of it of course it is but if you're good you get paid enough as it is so desire to be the number 1 and best around should be top priority, the money then takes care of itself. I hope Pavlik batters him.Originally posted by kurtangle01 View Post

Which boxer is not in it for the money?Originally posted by kurtangle01 View PostWhen Taylor was interviewed by Larry Merchant after the Spinks fight he was asked about whether he wanted Calzaghe or Pavlik next. Taylor does what's required to win fights. No more.
Sure it's frustrating to watch but i'd much rather be in Taylor's shoes 20 years down the line than the likes of Gatti.

Thats hardly conclusive proof though, its not as if he battered B-Hop for 12 rounds in each fight or stopped him, loads of people (me included) think he won neither fight let alone both.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostBit of an odd thing to say about someone who's twice defeated Bernard Hopkins.

Seriously how can twice defeating one of the premier middleweights of a generation not be counted as conclusive?

He's the undefeated middleweight champion of the world.
He;s defeated Hopkins twice.
He's undefeated!
How can all of that equate to someone not making the most of their talent?
He's a cautious boxer. Nothing wrong with that. He'll be able to enjoy his money and his faculties when the 'warriors' like Gatti are getting their care home attendants to tie their shoes laces.

Taylor was as cautious as ever. In my eyes and many other peoples he lost on points, both times.Babel fanclub member # 4!!!
