    Hearns, Duran, Leonard, Hagler

I just finished watching the Hagler VS Hearns fight and have been reading up abit about the fighters of the era. The mains ones that came up were Thomas Hearns, Sugar ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler and Roberto Duran. I was wondering what people fought of these fighters , who was the best/ most respected ect.

btw - get a hold of the Duran v Leonard first fight and watch that - it was quite simply sensational.

There's no way Leonard won their fight, that was a feckin disgraceful case of rigged judges.

        Hagler was the man

Duran is an absolute legend as is Sugar Ray. Their first fight, as Les said, was superb. The second fight was great as well. Duran had to ask Leonard to stop hitting him in the second fight he took so much of a hammering.

Hearns made a mess of Duran though.

ALL great fighters. Personal favourite was Leonard. Scared ****less of Hearns.

The mid to late 80s was a golden era for boxing with all those guys knocking about, and Tyson in his prime. Many a weekend I stayed up for the ITV Sunday 4am coverage. Happy days!

Out of the 4 i'd go for Hagler. He was a beast in the ring. Took on and beat the best middleweights in the world. Obvious exception being the Sugar Ray fight. That however is

He had the right idea. Quit in his prime and he stayed quit.

Unlike Duran, Hearns and Lenoard who all tarnished their reputations somewhat by continuing to box well past their prime or in the case of Lenoard making several ill advised 'comebacks'

How do you think those 4 would have done against the likes of Jones JR, Hopkins and Toney?

A prime Jones JR vs Hagler would be some fight,

That would have been an unbelievable contest. How about Hopkins v Hearns
