I don't think the targetting of Hernandez played a huge part in tonight's result. From a layman's point of view, the reason the Argies lost so badly was because they made stupid mistakes for 80 minutes and South Africa were ruthless in exploiting those mistakes.

I think that you are right in that it is key he is there for us. However I think it is more a talismanic presence and the fact he is a good kicker under (mental) pressure that makes the difference. Unless they actually injure him to get him out of the game I think he will always have those factors.

If he gets injured in the build up or the game I have no faith anyone else will step up to do the kicking in the heat of a World Cup final.

SA looked very very good tonight.

LOVED the punch/elbow from Conti at the end there though. ****ing dirty SAs. There was a lot going on before that arm from him, SA lucky to have only one yellow...

Anyway, we need to raise our game another level... and I don't think we can. But fair play, we're there.

TRUE, There was alot going on, but to be honest, it was mainly from the Argies. The penalty on Smit after 15 or minutes went the wrong way, and the Argies made numerous attempts to win the ball illegally, and luckily for the Boks, a number of those attempts never found their target.

I have never seen a team try to tackle, by sliding in with the feet in or around the scrums so much....they must have been watching the skills of Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano recently!

Well, SA are a great side at the moment. They have strength all over the field and they'll punish you for any minor mistake, you just can't give them a first chance, let alone a second.

For England to get anything next week, SA need to play poorly and England need to be on top of their game.

Its only one game, but the odds are stacked against us.

From a betting perspective, I'd be looking for 3/1 with England with a generous headstart (14-16 points).

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

                    Well, what can I say.

Well done to England once again, they played their effective game to perfection and have reached the final. South Africa will be tough, but I have no doubt that England can win it again if they continue to play like they have in the knockout stages. The 36-0 in the group stages will be forgotten about and it will be a lot closer than that.

SA are dangerous on the break and with their speed out wide will cause trouble for the English, but if the forwards continue as they have been and Wilkinson keeps kicking the points then I'm afraid to say that they can win it again.

I'll be supporting SA though for obvious reasons and also for the small matter of my wager before the tournament started.

I used to play for my school, under 16 level. In my last ever rugby union match I tried to tackle someone like that It was SOOO blatant, everyone saw it including the fella I was doing it to, who just avoided it.
I was pissed off because he was bigger, faster and better at rugby than me and he'd made a mug out of me all game. I was playing on the wing.
Anyway, it caused one almighty session of handbags pretty much everyone piled in
I got sent off, told the teacher to **** himself and his rugby team and that was the end of my glttering rugby career
