i deny it is sport in any way to be honest.
i saw a program about wrestling and how angry they get when its called fake. Might have been louis theroux.
it is clearly fake. there condition isnt fake even if it is artificially stimulated. and neither is the skill to do what they do and you have to say the time they spend doing it during the year is astonishing. i admit all that.
but in no way is it a sport.

All I am saying is that wrestling will never be accepted as a fully recognised sport because it is predetermined however if you look at this athletes and watch them perform maneuvers then there is no denying that it has aspects of being a sport. The fact that some wrestle for 60 hours continuous tells me that these men need to be physically fit. That tells me it has aspects of being a sport.Originally posted by Marsh View Postwe will have to agree to disagree
but anything that is a show and preditermined will never be a sport to me. like a trapeze artist or a ballet.
so we are not going to agree on this one. perhaps a thread with a vote on is wrestling a sport might be in order?
I'm not denying the fact that it is more entertainment than sport but it should not be fully disregarded as just entertainment.

dancers can dance for long periods yes.
and not sure about what you mean with the PE reference. PE isnt just sport its physical education.
i really cant see how wrestling is in any way a sport. its a very physical show. but the physical nature is not sport. and being physical part is not sport.

no you are missing my point. just because something is physically difficult doesnt make it a sport.
karate is due to the competition.
it is competition that makes something a sport not the fact you have to be fit to do it.
crown green bowls is a sport but you dont have to look like triple h or the undertaker to do it. no real physical prowess needed but there is competition.

Sorry. There is no way in the world it is a sport. It is a choreographed soap-opera and the "winners" and the whole thing really are part of a script.Originally posted by Ben Tover View PostHorses for courses mate!
Bodyguards and bouncers can be very strong and good at their jobs as well but that doesn't mean what they do amounts to sport.Last edited by Kilteragh; 16-08-07, 10:20 PM.You can agree with me, or you can be wrong.

Too late. You had your chance. Delete it.Originally posted by Marsh View Postalso karate is a martial art not a sport.
forgot to say that ooops.
That always used to happen me when I was young. I'd think of a great comeback for an argument about five minutes after I'd lost it.

I would like to think there is some competition amongst the wrestlers in the industry. The late Chris Benoit was at the top of the sport after serving just over a decade and waiting in line after response from the fans makes me think that there is competition certainly when it comes to response from the fans of wrestlingOriginally posted by Marsh View Postno you are missing my point. just because something is physically difficult doesnt make it a sport.
