I don't think a lot of adults are sold by wrestlers. It's just kids.

In Olympic Wrestling it can take 10-15 minutes to break a hold.
I watched some once and it was mind numbingly boring.
Undoubtedly a sport but zero when it comes to entertainment value
I watched an interview with Hulk Hogan many years ago where I believe he was the first to admit that modern pro wrestling is sports entertainment.
Unfortunately it is a physically demanding sports entertainment, where the bosses in their quest for ever more money drive performers to "burnout", thus the temptation to take drugs.
Pro wrestling was devised to make the owners and TV companies money..............No more, No lessLawrenson:"Well thats 3 good chances they have had in the first 3 minutes of this half"
Motson:"" Yes Mark, you could almost say that they have had 3 chances in as many minutes"
Lawrenson: Errr I thought I just did say that, John"

Yep, I'll go with that however not sure about owners wanting to make money. They are some who just do it for love of the 'sport' Look at Paul Heyman at ECW- he was the little man trying to make a real wrestling promotion because of his love for the 'sport'Originally posted by Iceman View PostIn Olympic Wrestling it can take 10-15 minutes to break a hold.

Yeah, or the Hart family is (was) doing everything for the love for this "sport".Originally posted by Ben Tover View PostYep, I'll go with that however not sure about owners wanting to make money. But let's take a look at something else, shall we?
This is a match from June 1998 between the Undertaker and Mankind. Many people say this is the best match ever - you be the judge. There is PURE ENTERTAINMENT in this match although Mankind is probably one of the dumbest people in the world. Why? He almost killed himself, twice. Sadistic *******
1st part: Click here (you'll have to watch the entrances and crap like that ... But if you want to see what I'm talking about, scroll to 6:01 when they both almost fell through the cell and that at 6:28 when Mankind does the unthinkable.
2nd part: Click here (second fall by Mankind @ 3:30)
3rd part: Click here (watch Mankind roll over at 3:00 - if he isn't insane, I don't know who is.
Now ...
Do I find anything sporty about that? No. Do I find it wrong? Maybe. Do I find it entertaining? Yes (well, I did when I was a kid anyway).
But it just proves what wrestling world is all about. You have to do this kind of stunts (though not as risky as those seen in the video) to gain larger amounts of money and provide the company you're working for with the ratings. It's like a slavery ffs
Mankind wanted to so this things and even suggested them ... But come on dude, every normal person would have said NO! Not Vince McMahon though ...
