Sorry for being terribly cynical but this is always the first thing to spring to my mind anytime anyone does anything spectacular in athletics these days, which is really unfair on the honest athletes out there.

Ben Johnson (on steroids) ran 9.79 all those years, he actually said that had he not raised his arm in celebration it would have been quicker!

He seems to choke at all the major championships. One of the singularly most disappointing top atheletes to watch in that sense. To watch a sprint race it is always the competitive element that makes it enjoyable - I don't think I have ever seen Powell in a good race.

If you see the race itself, it is a weird one, almost zero atmosphere, no one pushing him, he gets an early lead, doesnt look like he is going particularly fast and almost ambles over the line. Shame he could do it Japan.
