    McLaren hit by constructors' ban

McLaren have been stripped of their points in the 2007 Formula One constructors' championship after the outcome of the 'spygate' row.

The team was also hit with a record $100m (£49.2m) fine but drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso will be allowed to keep their points.

The team must also prove there is no Ferrari 'intellectual property' in its cars next eyar before they can race.

McLaren team chief Ron Dennis is due to speak at a 1915 BST news conference.

Letting the drivers keep their points is a farce though. If drivers got points ilegally then how can it stand?

Off Topics but Mittal Steel in South Africa got a US$100 million fine for Unlawful trading Practices recently. Crazy and it represents only 5% of their yearly income

Alonso gave evidence against McLaren and in return he didn't get punished.

That is why they are allowed to keep their points.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Guarantee that the snitch **** isnt with Mclaren next year...theres even speculation that he intentionally dropped them in the **** to get out of his contract as he thought Mclaren were favouring Hamilton.

no way? really? ****, saw Dennis was going on about some email traffic between the drivers and clochquin (sp) and it was a real climbdown from the position where he said he knew everything that was going on in his team. Have heard about some braking system Ferrari developed to get the most out of the bridgestone tyres and looks like Mcclaren may have utilised the same.

Thing about the drivers not getting punished, hmmm. On one hand it wasnt the driver who stole the book, but they were the ones who directly benefited from the theft, and may also have know about the changes that would be made to the braking system.

In the end, how could they punish their darling Hamilton and ruin one of the best seasons in years?

Watch a real racing sport like NASCAR where cars actually pass each other and a number of drivers can actually win a race. There is now 2 french-canadians, a columbia and next year a Scots man

Alonso had no choice but to tell the truth. The FIA told him to cough up or they would revoke his F1 driving licence. What was he expected to do? The email trail was always going to get brought up. I still think the WMSC bottled it and the FIA are all pro Ferarri.
They've won the league, bigger stars than Dallas, they've got more silver than Buckhingham Palace, no one knows quite what to expect, when the Red Machine's in full effect!

I don't think it's a secret that FIA is pro Ferrari. Schumacher should have been stripped of two of his world championship titles for example when he took out his only rival in the final race.

That didn't happen and the third time he did the same thing he only got stripped of all his points.

If Schumacher would have been driving for another team then he would probably have been stripped of his F1 driving license a long time ago.
