    Oscar and Ring magazine....

Just read that Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy company has purchased Ring magazine.

It'll be interesting to see if Ring can maintain editorial integrity given that one of boxing biggest promoters now essentially owns it.

I don't image too much fuss will be made about this because it's Oscar. And ya'know everybody loves Oscar, don't they?

I imagine the response may have been a little different had say Don King purchased Ring.

It's akin to Liverpool buying World Soccer.

Golden Boy productions have been like a breath of fresh air in boxing since Oscar started it. Fighters, promoters, coaches, trainers and even down to grass root level have noticed it's huge impact in the States, and most agree that it has had a very positive effect.

Obviously the name of their game is to make money, but they are doing so whilst pumping a hell of a lot of dough back into the system.

Oscar had a very good working relationship with The Ring magazine for the last 15 years and I personally think it is in very good hands. It is Sports and Entertainment Publications that has purchased a number of magazine titles, including The Ring, S&E being a part of the Golden Boy empire.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

De La Hoya is turning into an entrepreneur now. He has purchased a few magazines however is not taking control of the editing side of it. I read what Frank Warren had to say and he sounded more bitter than Moyes.

He has a good deal with both HBO PPV and Showtime, they are like Sky Box Office and Setanta except ten times bigger in America.

He has some of the best boxers: Mayweather, Barrera, Hopkins, Mosley, Winky Wright and also Britain's Junior Witter.
