I've been down as low as 2 before when I was a kid but I gave up because I wanted to play football. I've only just started playing again this year and I was given a 5 handicap by the club I play at so I've come down 2 shots. A few of the lads I play with are off plus 2 and 3 and they play in a few of the big amateur events in the Uk so that's where I want to be. It's going to take a lot of work over the winter but one of my old school mates and rivals when I was a kid is a pro so he gives me free lessons when I need them.

You've got some job mate I'd love to be a PGA pro. Do you ever get to compete?

Thats the problem for alot of Pro/Assistant Pros there too busy in the shop taken calls about Tee times and dont play enough.

Happened a friend of mine a couple of years ago he was an assistant pro he left it cause he was just in the pro shop all the time didnt improve his golf at all and got fed up doing all the ****ty jobs for the Pro

i teach quite a bit so going to a tournament and spending 300-400 on entry fees and accomodation and caddies etc is not always an option,. whereas i can stay at work and teach and earn money..

this leaves my days off or going to watch pool matches in the local and getting completely rat arsed
Ever earned any money from the tour?

Where abouts is the club you teach at?

i agree it does happen. after 6 months here i was getting pissed off at how busy it was and being stuck in the shop all day.

but i get up off my arse at half six in the morning and if its not a **** day i play. if it is a **** day i go to the gym. so as it turns out i get to play 4-5 days a week... so you can make time.

this lad you mention got treated badly possibly. it can be difficult to juggle playing, teaching, girlfriend etc but it can be done

work at nuremore hotel in carrickmacross in co monaghan in ireland. teach here and another local club called mannan castle

never earned anything worth mentioning not going to lie. standard is very high over here and unless you shoot under par every time you tee it up forget about it. after a while you get pissed off and only play local tournaments for economic reasons

I'm going to the Belfrey this weekend to watch the British masters I've never seen the pro's in action (apart from my mate who sounds like he is at your standard) although I did once play with a bloke called Iain Pyman who was on tour for a bit in the Northern Counties years ago.

I'm going to come over to Ireland next summer for a hack I might pop along for a lesson you could sort out my reverse pivot and taking it away on the inside too much.

                      Sorry mate, couldn't resist.

Shame on you for blasting balls from the edge of the putting green.

I'm going to sort out a lads trip to Ireland next summer but I haven't decided where yet. As I said most of them are off scratch or better so we would be looking for somewhere decent to play.

As for my reverse pivot it awlays almost ends up in a block and it only happens 2 shots every couple of months but it's been there ever since I started playing the game however I do think I stand a bit open anyway which doesn't help and I'm going to work on my set up a lot over the winter.

It's a mental thing with me though I was playing on Saturday and was 2 under after 9 and was hitting the ball well and even putting half decent. I was walking to the 10th and my ****ing power caddie bust so I spent 10 mins trying to fix it. the group behind caught us up so I had to push the ****er for the last 9 holes. I teed off on the 10th and spanked one on the fringe of this short par 4 when I was walking off the tee I realised I gone off the wrong ones The 2nd 9 is a bit of a hike at the best of times so when you've got to push a broken power caddie with heavey battery all over the place it does **** all for your game. I ended up 3 over par and fuming because I saw one of the last opportuinites to get down to 2 before the season finishes slip through my fingers

that pic was taken for some website if i remember rightly about ireland local pros or some ****. cant even believe its still running!!!

if you had seen the shot played out however, you would have seen a flop shot over a hundred foot in the air to allow for the wind to take so as it landed to my left six foot in front of the flag you can see before spinning back into the hole....

you should have just carried the bag for the back nine ???? if your all decent players you are better off playing some of the good courses when you do get here. a lot of top rated coures over here are actually pure ****, same as the belfry to be honest (allthough the PGA national course there is a real good test).

i have a lot of friends as pros here working at top courses and will probably be able to get you a few deals and stuff but pm me closer to the time and il sort something for you..
