    Taylor vs Pavlik

Not seen a post for this one so i thought i'd start it.

First fight in what promises to be three of four months of top quality boxing action.

I know Taylor has a lot of detractors and i know a good few reside on this very website however I'm hoping that Taylor can pull something out of the bag Saturday night.

Show us all that the boxer who twice defeated the legendary Bernard Hopkins was no flash in the pan.

Sky Sports are showing the fight live on Saturday / Sunday morning. Coverage starts around 2am

There is a repeat on at 9am on Sunday morning.

I'm thinking of staying up for this one.

Bad Intentions is one of the best, if not the best Middleweight boxer around. I would love to see Taylor gain or Calzaghe drop a division for a super clash.

    This looks like a cracker

I'm pretty sure that Taylor has already stated that this is his last fight at middleweight. He'll be moving up to Super Middle after this fight.

Very good fight, but Taylor lost to a one dimensional fighter. Winky Wright wold beat up Pavlik. Pavlik's only got a jab and straight right all Taylor had to do is move to his right and counter-punch all night.

i enjoyed the fight but both fighters would struggle against the super middleweights, as ive mentioned before I have never bought into the whole Taylor thing...hes good, but not that good. I quite like Pavlik. Decent fight mind.

*sigh* i guess the majority on this board were right. Taylor really wasn't all that.

Pavlik looked very one dimensional. Continually walking onto Taylors left jabs.

However with the power that he possesses all you need is one punch to connect.

Did anyone see the Estrada vs Berto fight that was on the same bill as Taylor vs Pavlik? Cracking fight. Berto up and coming welterweight. Looks like he can punch a bit and has speedy hands. Estrada a touch Hispanic who probably took a few too many punches during the fight for my linking. One of the best fights of the year.

I think he's amazingly talented but quite clearly something is missing.

Whether thats desire? Plenty say to him it's just his job and not his love. Fitness? He has rounds in fights where he just does absolutely nothing, theres plenty like that out there but there were fights like Spinks where he needed to up it and he just didn't bother or couldn't. Attitude? He's openly admitted ignoring Manny Stewards advice in the corner and Steward has ripped into him a lot for it. I've no idea im no expert but a final piece of the jigsaw is missing and I don't see him dominating anyone and everyone like I believe he has the talent to do. That might of been his first "official" defeat but I think he's lost 3 or 4 myself.

After rounds 1 and 2 last night though I was thinking "Yeah, this is it, he's finally going to put on a show", then he went to sleep for a few rounds, had a couple of decent rounds then got banged out. The more I watch him the more he confuses me.

Ah well, on to Pac Man v Barrera next weekend. I ****ing love Manny.

I expect Pac man (far easier to spell than Packyow!) to win and then hope that MAB hangs up his gloves. I'd hate for him to end up like Erik Morales.

Yep, he should end up winning comfortable enough providing he's prepared properly. Was rumours he wasn't training 100% but im sure Roach has him in top condition. Manny in 7.

I had a feeling that Pavlik would win this one. He has tons of heart and is in the sport because he loves to fight. Taylor on the other hand is the exact opposite, he's only in it for the money, and if that's what motivates a fighter he normally doesn't have the heart to come through trouble.

Pavlik desrves to be where he is now. I'm not sure Taylor will make it back to the very top because his recent performances suggested that what happened to him on Saturday had been coming for quite some time.

I'd like to see Pavlikfight Felix Sturm now. That's probably the best fight out there for him now.

I have never actually seen Pavlik fight that I am aware of.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
