I think Alonso's chances of staying at McLaren are extremely slim, his relationship with Ron Dennis is non existent. According to the commentator's on ITV today Button is getting a lot of attention in the pit lane for his performances in an awful car this season, if McLaren made a move for him he'd jump at the chance to be able to compete at the front of the grid.

Having just watched a replay regarding the safety car issue,
could somebody please explain where Hamilton comes into this at all.

From what I saw he took a wide right out of the way for the dry track and the two other cars took each other out.

I watched it a few times and he seemed to lose the back end a bit as he entered the first corner and swerved to the right either to avoid the safety car or to find some drier track. They were possibly all too bunched up behind the safety car, he was possibly too close to the pace car and going too quickly as they entered the first corner, but they were too close to him, so it's hardly his fault.

Today's race has made for an exciting finale. (Except for Shaggy. )

Good driver (obviously) but a whinger of the highest order. All he's done this season is piss and moan, looks like he can't take being beaten by a better driver in the same car.

I think that is a bit harsh, he is a double world champion who's gone to a new team and encountered a clear bias towards golden bollocks. Anyone would be pissed off if they started a new job and found that the boss gives preferential treatment towards a trainee.
Despite all this Alonso is only 4 points off Hamilton. I hope he pulls it out of the hat and wins the next race.

I dont think so, otherwise the relationship between the mcclaren, Hamilton and Alonso wouldnt have broken down. But despite this Alonso has still fought his way to the last race of the season, Hamilton hasnt beaten him off the park and I dont think Hamilton is a better driver at the moment.
Dont get me wrong, I think Hamilton is a potentially great driver but until he wins back to back world championships then you cannot say he is a better driver than Alonson. Remember Alonso won his titles at a weaker car and when he stepped up to a better car he has still performed.

Alonso's just pissed that he doesn't get special privilidges i.e. Hamilton allowing him past.

The qualifiers and races show that ability wise there isn't much in it. If anything Hamilton has been the more consistent driver.
