'm better than Ali - Mayweather

I'm better than Ali - Mayweather

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7109353.stm

Floyd Mayweather has stepped up his war of words with Ricky Hatton by claiming to be the greatest boxer ever.

The unbeaten American welterweight insists he is even better than legends Sugar Ray Robinson and Muhammad Ali.

The 30-year-old, who fights Hatton in Las Vegas on 8 December, said: "I can quit today and be known as the best fighter that ever lived.

"I respect what Robinson and Ali did for the sport. But I am the greatest, and this is my time."

Hatton, who has held world titles at both welterweight and light-welterweight, is also undefeated and lists Jose Luis Castillo and Kostya Tszyu as his most notable victims.

Mayweather isn't even close to the greatest of all time. That is all in his head

But Mayweather, who has beaten the likes of Castillo, Oscar de la Hoya, DeMarcus Corley, Zab Judah and Sharmba Mitchell, has dismissed the Briton as "dirty" and one-dimensional.

"I didn't get the chance to watch him against Kostya Tszyu," said Mayweather.

"I already knew what it was - punch, hold, punch, hold. From what I've seen, it was extremely dirty.

"And that's what I'm saying - that Ricky Hatton is a very dirty fighter."

He is an arrogant and unlikeable man. I hope Hatton knocks his block off.

Good work by Mayweather, all part of the boxer's responsibility to promote the fight

true, you always know he is going to come out and say these things on the eve of the fight, Oscar will probably be encouraging it.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

I am not sure, but no doubting he is getting more than Ricky is.

Mayweather thinks he is better than Ali?

Sure all boxers are arrogant, but that just takes the piss. I hope Ricky Hatton sparks him out.
