    Vargas vs Mayorga

Fascinating stuff. Super middleweight match on Friday night. This is a match you show to kids to say- never box like this. There's more heart than head in this match. Both guys hate each other. Brilliant to watch needless to say.

as it turns out, it was a fight you should have the kids watch. both fighters controlled their emotions and put on a great show. vargas hit the canvas in the 1st round with a powerful flurry from mayorga
slowly but surely vargas got himself back into the fight and i had him winning it until he hit the canvas again in the last second of the 11th, a round he had clearly won.
the 12 th round was what fighting is all about, neither guy threw in the towel and still threw plenty of punches. mayorga took the decision with one judge calling it a draw

It is on Setanta now, cracking fight, have to leave now in the middle of the 9th
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

      * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

It wasn't controlled, too much emotion at times. Heart over head but great to see. Like a proper schoolyard fight in the first.

must of been watching a different fight then, cos vargas was so disciplined in his approach. mayorga also fought a smart fight and kept bangin away, had he been reckless, vargas would of knocked him out.

I saw the result before I knew the fight was on the box - so I never bothered watching it. Sounds like a good 'un an' all.
            Liverpool born and bred.

I forgot it was on, as I dont watch setanta all that much to be reminded.
