UFC Confirms Rampage, Griffin Coaches Of TUF 7
    Date Added: December 10, 2007
    Story By: Will Hengelbrok

'Rampage' and Griffin named as coaches for TUF 7

    By Thomas Gerbasi

UFC President Dana White made it official over the weekend - UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and top contender Forrest Griffin will battle it out for the 205-pound crown in 2008 " but not before the charismatic duo compete as coaches on season seven of The Ultimate Fighter reality show, which begins filming in January.

White made the Griffin announcement during Saturday’s Ultimate Fighter finale show, with the announcement of Jackson’s involvement in TUF 7 coming during the broadcast of the 2007 Video Game Awards on Spike TV, which also airs The Ultimate Fighter.

Jackson, fresh from becoming the first fighter in history to unify the light heavyweight title when he defeated PRIDE champion Dan Henderson in September, will be making his first appearance on The Ultimate Fighter. On the other hand, Griffin - who stunned the MMA world with his decisive submission victory over the last man to beat ‘Rampage’, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, also in September " will be returning to the place that helped make him a superstar back in 2005, when he won the first season of the show by defeating Stephan Bonnar in one of the sport’s classic battles.

The seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter " featuring middleweight up and comers - is expected to air in April 2008.

One thing we can say about Griffin though, he lives for the sport and possibly trains as hard as anyone in the sport.
Atleast they have a good personality in Griffin to be a coach.
Rampage Jackson will be great entertainment, the chap could almost be a stand up comedian.

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Griffin is a lot better than some give him credit for - his victory over Rua showed that. I think he struggles for credibility due to the fact he came from the reality show.

A match with Jackson should be nothing less that a war - cant wait ti see it.

The Huerta - Guida fight was something else - not as back and forth as I had hoped, but a really great fight none the less. Huerta is one ballsy fighter - I dont think his legitimacy can be questioned now.

Ryan Gracie found dead today in his prison cell. Sad news.

****. RIP Ryan. For a moment thought it read Royce
didnt see the clay Huerta fight clearly, only seen some ****ty internet version. from that, it looked like Huerta was lucky, but I may be way off saying that. Nice rear naked choke though.
Looks like Huerta will have to work on his wrestling rather than taking it for granted. Surely he must be due a title fight now.

Isn't the Penn-Stevenson fight for the vacant title?

I can see either of those (probably Penn) making their first defence against Huerta.

What a fight Penn-Huerta would be.

                RIP Ryan.

Penn V Huerta would be an amazing fight. BOth can stand and fight but I would prefer Penn on the ground. That is, if he gets past Stevenson which will not be an easy fight for Penn. Didn't realise it was for a vacant title.

Huerta could certainly be seen as lucky to a degree, as Guida prety much dominated the first two rounds - however, he took the punishment and came back in the third, pretty much anihilating Guida. It was a ballsy performance with a load of character, something you need if you are going to be a top fighter.

Penn - Huerta would be a great fight, but I think maybe too soon for Huerta. I would like to see him fight Tyson Griffin, who only just scraped past Guida by a dubious decision earlier this year - that would be a crazy match up.

War machine was a douche bag followed closely by the guy who lost his job as a fireman.

                          Whatever happened to Nate Diaz?

He may be a douche bag, but that was an awesome fight he was in, in the finale. Great spirit shown by both men.

He is Nick's brother, thats what happened.
No seriously, the UFC have a litle bit of a problem with Nick, last I seen of Nate, he was slagging off the UFC after he won a fight for showing a lack of respect to his brother.
He did fight in September though submitting Junior Assunciao with a guilotine choke.
