Who's up for this one then?

It is being reported that Ricky Hatton will make his return to the ring on May 24th at the City Of Manchester Stadium. It's being reported a deal is almost done for Ricky Hatton to face the Columbian WBO Champion Ricardo Torres in his first fight since his loss to Floyd Mayweather in December. They have also talked to Demetrius Hopkins and Kendall Holt but it is believed Hatton has chosen to fight Torres for his WBO championship with Hatton apparently already signed and only waiting on Torres to follow.

This has the potential to be a cracker. Torres almost ko'd Cotto abot 18 months ago in an all out war. Torres is similar to Ricky in style so there wont be a backward step from either man.

I'll be there. Who'll be joining me?!

That would interest me....although it'd go against my natural inclincation to cheer against someone called Torres.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Yeah, don't wear a Torres 9 LFC replica shirt that night. It would be so wrong on so many levels.

NO WAY, Les! Holiday to NY and a Hatton fight. You must really love the missus!!!!!!

It isn't signed yet but I'd imagine that there'll be an announcement soon as it looks close to being done according to a few snippets I've read.

This is no tune up for Ricky either. Torres is a good fighter and a risk. He's a bigger puncher and far more aggressive than Witter.

The only sticking point might be that Torres is fighting on the undercard of Taylor Vs Pavlik II in a few weeks. If he loses his belt then this fight could be up in the air. I think he's fighting a nobody though so it shouldn't be to much of a problem.

She's been with me since we were 16 as you know. She's still on trial - and she knows it!!

Count me in Scott - I'll defo be there. Gotta admit I'd love to see Hatton v Witter. I think I might even have a sneaky tenner on Junior.

I'd have to disagree. Witter has big stamina issues. Just look at the Colin Lynes fight to see that. He can't deal with pressure. Witter's very well managed and Dominic Ingle would never let his promoter Mick Henessey put a pressure fighter, other than Hatton, anywhere near him. The only reason they want Hatton is because he's their only realistic chance of this £$£$£$£$£$.

Hatton would take a few rounds to solve the puzzle that is Junior Witter but when he did it would be curtains. I honestly couldn't see the fight lasting the distance. Maybe 10 rounds maximum.

I don't think we'll ever see the fight though. Hatton will fight Torres and then probably Malignaggi at MSG while Witter jealously watches on.

Witter has a saying you know and I'm serious when I say this. When asked how he is and how his career's going he says 'I'm still black'. So what's he implying here?

As you can see, Les, I don't thik very much of Junior Witter.

I'd still have a tenner on Witter Scott.

Not because I think he's better than Hatton - coz he isn't; but he can punch. I also believe we've probably seen the best of Ricky and you know what that can mean.

I'll buy you a couple of bevvies if my tenner mutates into a hundred quid or so !!

                      I'll hold you to that!!!!!

As for seeing the best of Ricky? I don't agree. He's 29, no spring chicken, not old though. One defeat against the very best there is and, although he was knocked out, he gave Floyd as uncomfortable a night as I've seen him have in many a year.

If Ricky fights at the pace he did against Floyd, if he fights Witter, he would walk right through him. The only problem for Ricky against Floyd was that, naturaly, Mayweather was bigger and stronger. He wouldn't have the same problems, imho, against Witter.

As I said though I don't think we'll ever see the fight unfortuantely. Ricky will fight Torres then Malignaggi selling out Eastlands and MSG respectively while Witter fights in front of two tramps and a prostitute in a Doncaster bus shelter.

I think Ricky will find it hard to get 'up' for fights in future. I believe we've seen the best of him.

Well, I guess we'll see. Neither of us can say for sure and the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. Plenty of fighters lose fights and come back bigger and stronger for it where as some simplay fade away.

Ricky could either come back like Benn did or fade away like Naz did.

Ricky Hatton, imho, will be determined to come back bigger and stronger and I guess we'll see just how much if / when he fights Torres in May.

It should be a good fight and night out on the ale regardless.
