    Frank Mir!!!!!

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

He's one lucky fecker, he got his arse kicked but pulled out the submission move.

Lesnar was clueless at times and once he 'gets' what the feck to do he'll be a tough cookie.
      We come not to play.

Lesnar had Mir's number but his lack of experience showed when he should have capitalised on Mir being on the mat. Ah well.

I think you're both underestimating Mir's victory. He had a plan to go for a leg submission and stuck to it. Sure he took a few to get to it, but most UFC fights can go either way in a split second, its what its all about. Mir is one of the best submission artists there is so to say this victory was luck is rubbish.

Lesnar wasn't good enough on the night, but he did impress me. The speed he was spinning around on top of Mir was incredible for a man of his size and he has a lot of power, as do many of the big guys.

Mir had one chance and took it superbly.

          Welcome back Frank.

UFC 81 : Substance over size. Nice to see that both Mir and Nog won against much bigger opponents.

Lesner has the makings of an absolute monster. He has size, speed and obviously power. However he still appears to be a little green around the edges as was proven last night. Mir however is an ex champ who's no ones fool. Mir obviously had a game plan and executed it to perfection.

Fighting Mir in only his second fight was a very strange choice on the part of team Lesner. I have no doubt that UFC wanted to push Lesner as far as they could as early as they could simply because he is a 'big name'

For for Nog beating the Maine-iac. Quality. He was getting his ass kicked for two and a half rounds, no question. Sylvia has to be the most one dimensional MMA fighter on the planet.

I noted that Dan Henderson will be fighting Anderson Silva at one of the up comming UFC events. Expect The Spider to decimate Henderson.

Enjoyed the heay eight fights tonight,
I would look forward to a Frank Mir V Nog fight if it is next, should be a good contest that, sightly fancy Nog for that one though, ground game should be interesting.
Lesnar proved he has plenty of potential, he could become champion one day if he keeps training had and working on technique.
Henderson V Silva will be fight of the year, it has been long talked about and even described as a dream fight when both were fighting out of Pride, cant wait for it to be honest. Will be interesting to see how Henderson deals with Silva's world class clinch work and striking.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Thought Lesnar was a monster but he was far to niaive - I could see it coming as he was getting too close to Mir a couple of times but not in a position to defend himself against the inevitable submission attempts. Thought he was impressive though and was unlucky to have a point deducted in that exchange on the ground

Delighted to see Silvia submitted, in fairness he is a very effective fighter and I thought he had Noguera beaten but you could see the fear in Silvia's eyes any time they hit the mat - he couldn't run away fast enough. Noguero v Mir I would say will be like a chess match, very slow and tactical

Thought the opening fight was excellent with Griffin very impressive against what seemed to be a much bigger opponent in Tibau - a real slugfest

Not a bad night I have to say, last couple a definite improvement on many before with a few good cards on the way

Just noticed, Arlovski is fighting in UFC 82 I was genuinely worried we would not see him again in the UFC after his last snore fest. Thankfully though he is back and fighting on the undercard of the Anderson Silva V Dan Henderson fight.
suddenly the Heavyweight division in the UFC is starting look a little bit healthy.
would love to see him taking on Nogueira (spelling).
Also, anyone else notice that Nogueira called out Randy Couture after he beat Tim Silvia? was hard to make out what he was saying, but after watching it again last night, he sis call out Randy. Cant see him coming back to be honest though. Hope I am wrong.

Also, before I forget, good to see Rich Franklin back on the GSP V Serra undercard. He should easily see off Travis Lutter although I can't ever see him beating Anderson Silva in a title bout.

Arlovskis fight won't be televised though as it's listed as a prelim. It's the last fight on his contract and he's refusing to sign another unless they bring his pay into line with Chucks (which won't and shouldn't happen).

This will probably be the last time you see Arlovski in the UFC, shame, i'd love to see him fight Cro-Cop, that was a dream fight of mine for a few years!

Was thinking it was near the end of his contract alright. Although I think we may see him again, where are you getting your info from mate?.
It all depends on how quick the other fights are if we see him on the main card, hopefully we see him. I did at one stage want to see him and CroCop would still love to see it, but would genuinely like to see him in contention for the UFC title again, something I cant see CroCop doing for some time if ever.
UFC president Dana White revealed Saturday night after UFC 81 that the promotion has issued Mirko Cro Cop a deadline for deciding whether he will continue his fighting career.

“We’re waiting to hear from him,” White is quoted as saying in an article by Gary Herman of 15rounds.com. “We told him we’d wait for him to make a decision, but he’s not making a decision.”

White added that the UFC has given him a firm deadline and that the deadline has just about passed.

“The deadline is pretty much up, and I need decision from him by Monday (February 4),” White is quoted as saying.
Personally I can't stand Dana White, I think he is an asshole.

I didn't realise but UFC82 actually has some bloody good fighters on the card - shame they all won't be broadcasted

Despite his win, wasn't overly impressed with Kongo apart from his awesome physique but great to see Arlovski back, a big favourite of mine but also Diego Sanchez, Josh Koscheck and the one I am really looking forward to is the return of Evan Tanner - in his day he was awesome, although having been away for a while & age not on his side I hope he does himself justice. Jorge Gurgel has a lot to prove as well after looking like he was run over by a bus in his last fight

All this as well as potentially the best fight in a long time - Silva v Henderson

The contract talks have been covered by most MMA news sites for a few months now. I don't think Arlovski is good enough to be in the title picture anymore to be honest. I saw his last fight against Werdum live and it was painfull to watch. He was lucky in his previous fight against Pe De Pano (sp?) as Well. I think Cro-cop would beat him.

I agree about Dana White. When trying to Sign Fedor he refers to him as the best heavyweight in the world, now that the deal has fallen through he spends his time cussing him instead. He should shut up and get out of the press but he won't as he loves being a big star.

I think Dana is actually damaging to the sport.
IF he does not like a fighters personality or they do not see eye to eye with him, they run the risk of not being given a contract within the UFC.
Or if they do not push the fight like in the Arlovski fight, they also run the risk of falling out of favor. The sport should be about the stars that are performing, not the organization and its president.
I wish Tito and Dana would have got it on when they said they would, I would have really rooted for Tito, come to think of it, Tito has one more fight left in the UFC and then he is gone too. Couture also also fell out with the UFC, the list is going to get longer and longer.
It has become a trend now to boo fighters in the octagon that don't instantly engage, IMO that robs many fighters of their ability. You would never see this booing in Japan.
