Darren Clarke for Sports Personality of the Year me thinks!
I missed the live coverage yesterday but caught up with the action on the BBC highlights show. The couple of minutes after Clarke won his singles match had me trying my best to hold back the tears. I failed.

Same here. The missus said "is that the bloke whose wife died?" and I said "Yes.", very very quickly.

            Hmm.

On an emotional level he would deserve it. I love the bloke and certainly wouldn't object, but purely in a sporting achievement sense I'm not sure he deserves it. In fact he doesn't.

How do you define sports "personality"? If it's purely on personality and strength of character then I think he does.

Yeah true. I always thought it was down to sporting achievement and not on "personality" - after all, Owen won it once.

I'm nitpicking for the sake of argument; I'd love to see him win it.

I don't think he would want to win it.

                      Quite right.

He knows what everyone thinks of him anyway. The SP is a joke award anyway.

He'll be part of the proceeding though and the Ryder cup is nailed on to get the team award - and rightly so. Unless we win the Prem and CL double of course!

Don't think we'll do that by Christmas mate.

We'll deserve it as well if we win the title before Xmas
