    Mayweather retires!

LEGEND! People can say whatever they want about him avoiding Cotto, but I think that's for from the truth. He's never dodged anyone. In my personal opinion I think he would've dealt dealt with Cotto anyway.

Floyd Mayweather has announced his retirement from the ring, citing a lack of desire as his reason for calling it quits.

Considered the best pound-for-pound fighter, Pretty Boy hangs up his gloves with a perfect 39-0 record, with 25 of those wins coming by knockout.

The American's last bout saw him retain his WBC welterweight crown with a ninth-round stoppage of Britain's Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas.

He was scheduled to face Oscar De La Hoya in a rematch after winning the first fight between the pair by split decision back in May 2007.

      Amazing career

However, Mayweather has decided instead to call time on an amazing career that has seen him win six world titles at five different weights.

"I have decided to permanently retire from boxing," the 31-year-old said in a statement.

"This decision was not an easy one for me to make, because boxing is all I have done since I was a child.

"However, these past few years have been extremely difficult for me to find the desire and joy to continue in the sport."

10000% guaranteed he will be back in the ring. Money talks... and motivates.

No doubt by the end of the year he will come out of retirement for a big money superfight or get called out of retirement by Hatton for a rematch

So yeah money talks and they will be able to hype it up even more by saying he is coming out of retirement for 1 final fight. Simple marketing

I think a fight with De La Hoya or Hatton this year will be enough for him to come 'out' of retirement

Asif he's going to turn down about £20m for another fight, same as his previous "retirement".

but he has. The de la hoya fight was already lined up and if that doesnt motivate him then no other boxing match will.

I think its too early for him to retire but only he knows if he has lost that desire, if he really has then its the right decision.

We'll see. As it stands he's just said a few words as he's done previously which turned out to be bollocks. That motivation stuff is rubbish aswell, he's already beat De La Hoya why would that be the highest motivation?

because you say he wont turn down 20mill to fight. He just did. Mayweather vs De La Hoya rematch would be one of the biggest purses ever. I dont think Mayweather is motivated by boxing anymore and he has been testing the water by appearing in various other things recently to back this up. Who knows...id have liked him to fight oscar, ricky and cotto then retire.

Has he or has he just put it off for a while? We'll see but im certainly not hanging on his words this time given we've already had the tearful retirement speech before.
