      Are you from NZ? If the answer to that question is yes then the answer to your question is no.

        Great game, very controversial moment when the player was run out after colliding with the bowler and falling over.

        Shame the fielder panicked at the end and went for the direct hit instead of the simply tossing it to the fielders on the stumps.

          What a prick that NZ commentator was tho, going on about how it shouldn't have been allowed, the collision stopped the batsman from making his ground...put it another way, in this scenario;

          Batsman defends a shot, and it falls to the ground about where silly mid-on would be standing. His partner, seeing the opportunity for a quick single, has started off full pelt down the pitch. The bowler, in his follow through is the closest fielder to the ball, sees that the batsman is still stood in his crease, screaming nooooooooo at his partner...all the bowler has to do is take three paces, turn, and throw it to the fielder who has rushed over the stumps at the bowlers end. A certain run out with the non-striker 3/4 of the way down the pitch...but no!! The non-striker has turned back, and in doing so collided with the bowler, who is now just a couple of steps away from the ball...bowler goes down, batsman stays on his feet and makes his ground.

          But, had he not accidentally collided with the bowler, the bowler would of had a simple throw back to the stumps for a routine run out...so, does the batsman acknowledge he was a goner, and head off to the dressing room, or does he put it down to bad luck for the fielding team and play on?

            Very fair point

            It also crossed my mind that Sidebottom may have turned and run him out ANYWAY.

            Having said that, the fairest thing to do is play a dead ball IMO.

              I'm not sure, cos it was an accidental collision, so i think you just take the break as you get it. If it had been an Englishman getting run out in that way, then i'd have been miffed, but i would've accepted it as one of them things. I certainly wouldn't have kept on about it like that cunt did on commentary.

              But even then, at the death, a simple throw over the stumps to contain them to one run, and a tied match, would've done. Stupid, naive fielding there.

                  England should have withdrawn their appeal when the umpire gave them the chance

                  Great series so far though. The remaining games will have even more needle now

                    Brilliant game yesterday - really enjoyed it, and a fascinating end, last 20 overs or so were gripping.

                    I think, under the circumstances Collingwood had to call it. Whether or not it's good sportsmanship is irrevelant, if it was a friendly, then fair enough but the pressure at the top of all sports nowadays demands winning. It wasn't a blatant 'foul' and I have seen england lose wickets for worse - ie Pieterson against was it the aussies, and pollock walked across him - for me that was much worse - KP was going to make it and the bowler walked across the wicket/stumps and into his path - it was a blatant attempt/movement towards KP that he didn't have to make. He was stanfding the other side of the crease out of the game!

                    Yesterday was different - sidebottom steams down the crease to bowl, his eyes are fixed on the ball and he moves towards it - it was an accidental collision - but what hasn't really been mentioned - imo the batsman was really really struggling to make it anyway, if there was no collison side bottom would have had time to get the ball towards the stumps.

                    Anyway, in the end it didn't matter - can't believe england lost after they battled right to the death. to the ****ing final ball!!!! Swann with a maiden over right at the death, was it the 47th over or somehting - thats unreal in 50/50 and then Wright last over with gillespie on strike and 2 runs needed, bowls something like 4 dot balls on the run taking it too 2 runs needed off the last bowl - and a ****ing overthrow by england too hand it too new zealand!!
                    i own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
