    The Open

    Anyone going?

I might have a ticket sorted for Saturday. Its bloody expensive though, £55 for basic entry

Should be interesting this year without Tiger, its wide open IMO.

So many of the tops players seem to be off form. I think it could be a surprise winner this year. Hopefully a Brit will win it but if not I would love Miguel Angel Jimenez to win it.

Yeah I've a feeling a Spaniard will win it to complete the sporting summer treble.

It's hard to pick the winner of any golf tournament at the best of times but The Open is even tougher, with this year being about the toughest I can remember.

Me and a group of lads were going to go, but as soon as Tiger announced he wasn't playing. The calls came rushing in that they weren't interested. Alas, I would love to go but no one I know is willing to fork out £55 and not be able to watch tiger.

Man up and go yourself. There is more to golf than Woods, even if he was playing you would struggle to get good close up views of him due to too many people like your mates who follow him around like lemmings.

I watched him play his first round the last time The Open was at Birkdale. Nowadays I would completely avoid following him. Its like a circus you cant get a good view at all. Its far, far more enjoyable to watch some of the other top players, where you can literally stand next to them as they hit a shot.

That said at Royal Liverpool (Hoylake) a few years ago I watched Tiger hit one shot. He holed it from almost 200 yeards

I'm not really into golf, although enjoy watching Ryder Cup and Open on tele
The last time it was held at Birkdale in 1998 my cousin, who lives down south so I don't see much of him, phoned my mum to say he had tickets for the weekend rounds if I wanted them
He came to my mums for a meal on the Friday night and to give me the tickets and it was only then he told us that he was caddying for Seve Ballesteros who had not made the cut hence the tickets and car park pass were mine

the next day I drove through the crowds making their way into the place, all looking into my car to see who the famous person was (wasn't !!)
kept on showing my pass and ended up driving virtually onto the course and parked amongst all the players/celebs
Tiger obviously had just arrived on the scene but it was the 'Justin Rose' year and we followed him round

my cousin had no interest in golf, God knows how he got the job although in fairness Seve was by this time past his best

few months later I found out that this same cousin was working for Frank Warren and had sent fight tickets to Vegas over for his Dad and brother

his latest job, and I kid you not, was running a brothel in Thailand

                      Keep this quiet
if you carefully grind off the edges of a 50p coin you can use it as a 10p

went to the one at hoylake 2 years ago, on the final day. Waited in the same place all day, sat next to the green, as soon as tiger came round, all the camera-men/women where all sat in front of me! cheeky buggers! still saw him sink his eagle!

Then as i was walking back Sergio Garcia came out of the toilets.. i was quickly dived in front of by a steward.

was a great day! bloody expensive though

Like betting on the Grand National, I wouldn't touch it. With Tiger injured it's wide open.

That said, I think Karlsson at 40/1 is generous.

Went today prices are a joke.

My mates works on the practice ground and threw me a few balls the players have been using which Ill probably be losing on my next round.

No chance. This is Monty's time.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.
