Federer will be back. The next 3 years will be interesting. For some reason I can see Nadal only lasting a few years at the pinnacle, Fed will outlast him I reckon despte being 4 years older.
I think the same thing that happened to Sampras is happening to Federer.
Complacency, Motivation, Rivals getting better, Personal distractions, etc catching up on him. It's hard work getting to the top but a damn sight harder staying there!
Four 4 years as number 1, he deserves an applause as he set the benchmark for other players like Nadal, Murray, etc that to win anything, play at my level.
This is what is happening at the moment & he has no response to this so a step back to evaluate the situation while the young guns fight it out for supremacy then to come back in fully motivated & guns blazing to see if that was all that was required.
If not, there's always the seniors...
Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!
but for a tennis player that is starting to get on a bit, I'm not saying for a moment he is finished, and his experience will help in trying to reclaim top spot, but Nadal is younger, stronger, more aggressive, momentum and hunger which perhaps Federrer had 5 yrs ago when he was pushing to the top

Nadal will be finished if he gets a bad injury, most likely knee.
He's such a high intensity player who puts everything into every shot. Federer is a bit more classy and less physical. All depends on how long Rafa can keep himself injury free. I always feel as though he's constantly on a knife edge and an injury could really finish him because his game is all about brute force.

I was speaking to my mate yesterday who is a tennis nut and he said something similar.
He was saying how when Federer plays its just natural and isn't putting under extra pressure but when Rafa plays he is, as you say his game is about 'brute force' and how he is just putting more and more padding on his knees at the moment and its only a matter of time before he gets a serious injury there.
