There is just an underlying, slightly uncomfortable feeling that people are happy he got knocked out because of the colour of his skin and his ethnic origin - certainly some individuals on this forum have all but admitted this.

Last night I said Khan should retire, but having heard the general backlash I now hope from the bottom of my heart that he gets back to basics and proves he can fight again.

I don't think he can ever be world class, however he certainly proved that he is able to beat the best on these shores, a fact that most of the bigots seem to have forgotten.
    Very interesting...

I certainly think, and hope that those people are strongly in the minority (in terms of those who are happy he got beat). From what I've read on a few places it seems to be more the cockiness that people dislike about him, but I'd argue (although fully admit that I know **** all about boxing really) that most boxers are somewhat cocky no?

Anyway, I for one wanted him to win. Would it not be fairer to blame Warren for pitting him against this opponent rather than Khan? I don't know - hopefully he can come back stronger from this.

I think the cockiness would be something that the 'real' boxing fans would say they would dislike about him. The rest, well... the less said the better.

        I too blame Warren. He's a prick.

From my perspective a lot of the grief coming Khans way is due to the fact that Warren is part of his team, people tend to hate him and as a result boxers under his banner get slated if and when possible. Personally I like Khan and every time he has spoken I find myself liking the guy and I dont think hes a cocky ****er at all. If anyone is to blame for his poor public standing its Sky & Warren for really pushing him down peoples throats at a time when most boxers fight on ****ty undercards. Certainly the ppv situation was farsical.

I like Khan and hope he comes back stronger, he has major issues and it will take a lot of hard work to even come close to putting them right but now that the weight of expectation has been lifted I am hopeful he can achieve a large degree of success.

Good luck to the boy too.

Hatton proved himself wheras Khan is still trying to. Its not his fault that his promoters go overboard to get attention.

In his interviews Khan is always down to earth and certainly not cocky. He is confident as any fighter needs to be, if your not confident then you have no belief in yourself and where is that going to get you as a fighter? He talks about being a world champion within a year but i wouldn't call that cocky, just unrealistic ambition. But impossible is nothing eh.

Despite the obviously technical flaws I like Amir and at 21 he has got years ahead of him. Last nights defeat will be a blessing for him in the long run as its a much needed reality check

Maybe because Hatton has actually proved himself?

If anyone dislikes Khan because of the colour of his skin then that's disgraceful but it's all to ****ing easy these days to play the race card and maybe just maybe people don't like Khan for other reasons than his colour.

I've met Khan and one thing he is NOT is a cocky little ****, he's actually a nice guy. Before i met him i too had similar misconceptions but was proved wrong.

I don't understand all the hatred for him, yes he was on Box Office but thats because he's promoter Frank warren has signed an exclusive contract with them, had he signed with ITV he'd still be on there.

As to the fight I hope he learns he's not invincible and changes his style of boxing accordingly.

The punches that knocked him out would have floored most boxers in my opinion.
                        We come not to play.

For the record I don't mind the lad.

I do think he's over rated but I quite like him.

Have to be honest the impression I have of him is that he is a cocky little prat for someone who has acheived relatively little in the sport and am delighted he lost. Perhaps it's a misconception I have of him and may be he is an honest, genuine and nice lad, but if that is the case then may be he needs to look at his PR and the way he comes across.

Hatton is very much in the minority when it comes to how humble he is out of the ring so if Khan is cocky it's nothing unusual at all when it comes to boxers.

I'd certainly try and get into that mindset if I was stepping into a ring with someone who'd dedicated their life to learning how to really hurt people with their fists.

That said I wasn't too bothered when Khan lost, I quite like the kid in general but I saw a little interview with Prescott and it showed the poverty his family was living in so I'm made up that a young kid has probably just provided financial security for his family.

I don't follow boxing, the thought of paying money to have to set my alarm for 3am to watch perhaps a minutes of 'action' leaves me cold

I ****in hate Frank Warren though

I hate the way he always positions himself at ringside on the side that ensures the cameras will be on him

but mainly because he reminds me of the **** who made a right mess of flaggin my driveway !!
