I wasn't referring to the average, I was referring to the opportunity to be able to stockpile runs - which Sachin has been able to do due to the huge amount of cricket now played, and against village teams like Bangladesh, Zimbabwe etc. As you can see he's scored over a thousand runs against that dross.

The stats gleaned from cricket today do not tell the full story when you consider the circumstances in which the likes of Richards, Border etc from the 80s and prior played their cricket.

The more Test Cricket you play the harder it becomes to maintain a good average. Sachin's Test Cricket average is pretty good me thinks. For me, the best batsman that's ever played the game of cricket. Has dealt with the pressure of a nation enormously well and has been a top guy both on and off the pitch
