I'm trying to ignore Harvey's ridiculous posts, but it don't help when people keep quoting him. Just for the record Captains have been banned for slow over rates, Ganguly, Collingwood and Smith. A simple google search would allow you to find that out.

I just asked a question about whether he will get banned for slow over rates. It's unclear whether the rules are applicable to Test Cricket, but they certainly are to ODI's. And the fact that you can be suspended for Test Matches for slow over rates in ODI's, there MAY be the same sanctions for continually slow over rates and failing to bowl the allotted overs in the allotted time

      Thank you very much

      You lose again Harvey

        Lose what exactly?

Show me where a captain has been banned for slow overs in a test match. ODI's have a very structured time system in place for TV purposes, so the over rate is crucial. Tests dont, they can play later if the umpire deems it necessary to bowl more overs, and the light is still good. I've seen it happen.

Besides the Indians are one of the worst offenders for slow rates....which is odd considering the amount of spinners you lot carry. We have one spin bowler (and a **** one at that) the rest are pace. Of course we will be slower. Its not like you blaze through your overs, and we are 10+ overs behind. Its pretty even. You make out like the Indian team never do anything wrong FFS.

Also we bowled 87 overs, only 3 off the 90 per day. Hardly worth a fine (or if you had your way- ban) is it?

Harvey, first off, did I say he should be banned. I asked a question saying surely he should be due a ban for persistently slow over rates?

I didn't mention Test Cricket or ODI's granted, but when you said "If they are slow you fine the team, not ban the captain" you didn't distinguish between Test Cricket or ODIs either (to me and to many others I imagine, you made it as a statement for both forms of the game....or else you should have distinguished between the two)

So don't come out and make out your comment was related to "Test Cricket", because I'm afraid it wasn't. However, I find it quite amusing how you try and save yourself after making a t*t (or a d*ck) of yourself by coming out with random (and in your opinion funny) statements after I've posted something you don't agree with

Oh and by the way, the 87 overs were bowled after they took the extra half hour or 40 minutes alloted in the day, with a lot of the overs being spin. Never let the facts get in the way of one of your posts though

            You're struggling.

The fact that you say "surely he is due a ban" indicates that you think he should be, otherwise why say it.

I didn't have to mention what form of the game is being played, as anyone with 2 brain cells would be able to tell that Test cricket is what we are talking about. Seeing as though thats what has been the topic of the thread. ODI's haven't even been played yet.......so how could i be talking about them too You're grasping desperately at anything in site that could possibly save you from being wrong

Your last point actually strengthens my argument. Thanks for mentioning it. The only people punished in Test cricket for being slow, are the fielding side. We had to stay out there an extra 30mins to make up a few overs, I'm sure they would have loved to call stumps earlier. But we still got 87 overs in before the close of play, only 3 off the standard amount.

Also putting an asterisk instead of the middle letter doesn't "hide" what you are saying, or make it more appropriate.

Tut, tut, tut Harvey. Making that hole bigger for yourself.

Why don't you stick to posting in the gaming thread as you clearly know nothing about either football or cricket

Sorry, looks like the Aussies are set for the biggest score ever seen in India.

Aussies definitely on top. Great comeback this morning to get the last 5 wickets for 20 odd runs. Bad batting by India contributed also. But can't take anything away from the Aussies today

Think they'll get a lead of at least 150 tomorrow and then India will be up against it for the last two days

Final outcome: A drawn series for me
