    Calzaghe haters...

...and there's more than a few on here. What do you make of Kelly "he'd beat chicken Joe so easily that Joe is scared of fighting him" Pavlik's hammering by Bernard "over the hill, what was the point of Joe beating a useless old has-been who can barely stand up these days" Hopkins then?

Haven't seen the fight yet, will look for a repeat this week, but most reports suggest that Hopkins outclassed him. And he himself was outclassed by Calzaghe. So what's the point of Calzaghe fighting Pavlik now?

Pavlik was schooled, with a capital S, by Hopkins last night.

    Hopkins actually came out throwing.

Pavlik did not look, or was not given the chance, to look comfortable at the weight.

Excellent performance by Hopkins. One of the best performances of the year without a doubt.

People keep knocking Calzaghe, but the facts prove he's been a world class boxer. This result sort of proves the point again.

Oh Hopkins was over the hill they said, he's scared of Pavlik they say, what will they say now.

But i suppose the knockers will still knock him, maybe it's not really anything to do with his boxing.

Credit where it's due i say.

Whilst I echo your sentiments ...Pavlik who beat Taylor who beat Hopkins who beat....

That said I always fancied Calzaghe to outclass Pavlik. I think Pavlik should have a few more fights then take on Kessler at Super Middleweight. Those 2 could have a real rivalry over the next few years.

Aye, it's a funny old game....but Calzaghe just keeps on winning.

Hopkins had lost 3 of his previous 5 fights prior to last night. The accusations of him being past his best were not that outlandish.

He put on a performance for the ages last night against a boxer who's only real name on his record was Taylor.

That's why the insinuations that Calzaghe was avoiding Pavlik were an insult to Calzaghe and to his record.

Hopkins rolled back the years with that performance. Good victory, I like the guy even though he has a massive gob.

Who's said Pavlik would beat him easily? Dont recall seeing anyone ever say that to be honest. I've always said Calzaghe would beat him but I want him to go down that route rather than his hypocrisy filled Jones Jr route.

Oh and Calzaghe didnt "outclass" Hopkins hence the reason you'll find a load of debate about who won the fight on any boxing forum and a split decision in the actual fight.

Im a huge Calzaghe fan but the Hopkins fight certainly wasnt easy for him. I did think he won it by a fair few rounds in the end but Hopkins is a tough ******* who can spoil the best of boxers. I thought the Pavlik power may have caught up with Bernard but credit to him hes still as fit as ever.

What I really want to see is Kessler vs Pavlik at super middle. That could be a cracking fight. I really like Kessler.

Yeah he seems like a top fella aswell. I loved his interview after the Calzaghe fight, was like "no excuses the better man won" etc. Would be a good fight down the line, think Pavlik will stay at 160 for a bit now though, he's apparently got to fight Rubio next then can hopefully get Abraham next summer.

To be fair, from what I remember of your own comments, you've always been from the 'wanting to see Calzaghe fight the best' angle rather than just slating him. There have been plenty on here (and elsewhere) over the last couple of years who just constantly slate him though whatever he does. And there were many who said that Pavlik would batter him. A quick search shows that ShaggyAlonso in this thread for example: http://www.est1892.co.uk/forums/show...light=calzaghe said "Bang on the money. "A slap happy Welshman"

Pavlik would kick his arse and he knows it."

So, it's nice to see Hopkins expose some of the arguments people used to bash Calzaghe by comfortably beating Pavlik.

Personally, I'd like to see Calzaghe beat Jones and then retire, as I can't see what he's got left to prove. I'd then like to see Froch start getting a few opportunities. I think he'd probably get exposed at the very top level with his fighting style, but he's one hell of a puncher.

Yeah I like him, I like listening to him and watching him. Hopefully he beats Pascal and more opportunities open up for him. Theres plenty out there with Andrade, Kessler, Bute, Taylor and even the likes of Miranda.

Id fancy Froch to take Taylor to the cleaners and to be honest if Froch avoided Kessler and looked to the others first I fancy that he would be World Champ fairly quickly, then take the kesslers and Pavliks on. Frochs age is getting to be an issue though, whatever he does he needs to do it pronto.
