Whose great idea was this? St Helens start off by playing the number 2 seed, Hull. They win, but Hull get another chance and will now play Bradford for a place in the final. So St Helens come top of the league, beat Hull in a knockout but still get to play them in the final. Strange or what?

I much prefer rugby union nowadays. I followed rugby league in my increasingly distant youth and enjoyed the success of Widnes and Wigan. Rugby League is a far better spectator sport than rugby union. The game is quicker, more expansive, and doesn't have all that mauling ****e when 20 big fat blokes have a 'piley on' in the middle of the pitch!
