    No Calzaghe Thread?

Oh well, well done Joe. Completely dominated the fight from the 3rd round on and put on a great show.

One of the true greats, I hope he gives it up now though, there are very few unbeaten champions and he's nothing left to prove

I really hope he doesn't retire but takes on Dawson and beats him

          Boxing is ****.

I watched this fight live. Calzaghe did well to recover after the first round. He threw twice as many punches as Jones. Jones was not interested in throwing much back at him, he just seemed happy to stand back and defend the whole fight

After Jones got cut, the fight was pretty much over as he was handicapped and could bare see as the blood was all over the left side of his face. Apart from the cut i didnt think Calzaghe really hurt jones with any big shots.

Loads of punches but nothing really hurt Jones. Not once did Jones look like he was going to go down. Calzaghe threw all the punches and Jones just stood back defended and took the shots

            This was a cracking fight

Some of the punches Joe took on the chin were just unreal. Iron Chin indeed. If any of us had taken some of them our heads would have been ripped clean off our necks

There was one in the latter rounds that was just insane, I'm gonna try and make it my avator if I can find a clip of it and MrM can help

Why Dawson? He's barely done anything and it was disgraceful of Kellerman to bring him up in that interview just because he's a yank. All he's done is get a lucky decision v Glen Johnson and beat an old Antonio Tarver.

Dawson doesnt bring enough to the table. Not yet anyway.

Yup. Undefeated with 10 world champions on his record, yet people still keep saying he should take on the latest 'next big thing'. Funny how the same people who slate Joe on some of the boxing websites for beating Jones and Hopkins when they were past their prime are the same ones building up Dawson on the basis of a win against a 40-year-old washed up Tarver.

As I said in a previous thread, Joe should retire now as there is no-one left to fight that will improve his record or increase his status. There will always be a young hungry fighter being talked up as the next big thing, and you can't go on forever trying to beat them all. Bow out now, and watch the legacy grow as the next generation fail to live up to the same heights - as did Lennox Lewis.

Dawson is the new Lacy. He's the next American bad boy who's going to **** up Joe....

I thought it was a great fight and was suprised when I came on here at 3am to find out that there wasn't a thread because i wanted to know what time he was due to fight. Think he should probably retire on top but after a fight like that it's a shame because apart from being dropped in the first which was a strange forearm punch, he was excellent. Made Jones Jr look like a bum. Maybe took the piss a bit too much, putting his guard down and then poking his head through Jones defense was very funny but he could have been caught out.

Record speaks for itself and finished it off well against Jones even though he started taking the piss. Hope he retires now as he has done it all. Up with the best British boxers of all time if not the best!! Well done Joe!

He's the latest American Hype and I would like to see Joe destroy him, who else is there? If you look at the top 10 L/Heavyweights I see Dawson as the only worthwhile option

                            Bernard Hopkins - Beaten already
Chad Dawson - Number 3 next big thing, retire on a high
Glen Johnson - Waste of time
Antonio Tarver - As you've said old
Roy Jones Jr - Beaten already
                            Clinton Woods - ****
                            Dean Francis - ****
Zsolt Erdei - Fighting Francis in Jan, 34 yrs old, won't happen
Juergen Braehmer - Beaten by Veit, pointless fight

That's my point. Joe could box for the next decade and there'd always be some American 'bad boy' out there who'd kick his ass.
