The good thing is International cricket is competitive again.

SA might become the new world #1's but they weren't that good in Englan last time and Englan even competed in India.

Much better than having 1 team dominate.

Aussies will still win the Ashes though

Theres a few good kids making big scores in domestic comps. Hughes should get a game.
They've called up Andy McDonald as the all rounder now.

yep, should do alright. He's been pretty good for Victoria the last couple of seasons.

Looks like Bollinger will get the nod for the bowling spot too. He takes alot of wickets for NSW at the SCG, so he should do well. Swings it nicely too.

We have plenty of good young pace bowlers though, we are desperate for a decent leggie. Are there any decent ones at all?

Hang on a bit, Harv. Great bowler but Warney was different class.

Completely different class. McGill was a decent Test bowler but nothing special. Warne's the greatest spinner ever to have played the game IMO and one of the best bowlers.

MacGill was a tremendous bowler mate, took loads of wickets. But living in Warnies shadow, he just never really got a decent run of games. But when he did, he always performed.

Yes, he was good, everyone agrees with that.

                  But Warne was fantastic.

There is a reason Warne was picked ahead of MacGill. It's because he was better.

                  And fatter.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Smith has broken his hand after a fast one popped up on him from Johnson.

Aussies in a similar position as we were in at Perth. Lets hope we can actually bowl them out in the second innings and get a win.

The pitch is doing all sorts though, some big cracks opening up....should be a fun final two days

Was painfully amusing watching Smith trying to get his glove back on after the physio had looked at it...and his flinch when the doc did his "does this hurt when i press here" made me feel sympathy for the fella.

Well i was wrong about Siddle, got us back into it yesterday with a great spell to break the Boucher/Morkel partnership and then finish off the tail.

Delighted to see Katich reach another half century today.

How weird was the Katich dismissal BTW!

Ive never seen a player given out LBW with the bowler not appealing Stein is lucky Boucher appealed for him.

The Sth Africans are looking a tad weary out there. Three five day tests in quick succession have taken their toll it looks.....wonder what the outcome would have been if it had been a 5 test series, rather than a poxy 3 tests.

unreal finish to the game. Saffie tail hung on till about 4 overs till stumps....then Smith comes out to bat with his broken hand Credit to him, every time he hit the ball it would have jarred his hand, and you could see he wasn't letting the pain get to him. Gutsy stuff. It took a great ball to nip back to get him out with only an over left

Great series of cricket. Each test was in the balance, and to be honest it was good to see. We have got used to seeing tests last 3-4 days here over the last 10 years, and even though we didnt come out the victors, it was great to see.
