Cook would be my choice, age ain't a factor. Look at Graeme Smith, when he took the captaincy of SA, he was what, 22?? And by christ, he's gone on to become a fantastic captain, and the selectors stuck with him and backed him all the way.

He'd probably be my choice for the Test side, don't know if he'd even get a look in for the ODI's though.

And then he'd have to cope with the traditional spectacular loss of form that goes hand in hand with being England captain.

Agree that a cricket captain has a big say in the team, especially as once out on the field it is him who orchastrates everything. However, he does need to be able to work with the coach, and obviously this wasn't happening. However, the alleged "sack him or i resign" line that KP used was a bit much in my view.

Sadly, the choices for captain are Cook, Strauss, Flintoff (not likely), Bell (not a leader in my view), Collingwood (unlikely)...the rest are all relatively new to the scene, or bit part players. KP was, in my view, the only man with the drive and determination to lead the team. Flintoff was never a good choice for me, he's too laid back for the role.

So it's Cook, Strauss or Bell in reality...not an awe inspiring selection i admit...

I think people are getting confused with football and likening captain and coach to football captain and manager.

The coach coaches for the captain. The captain is like a player manager and the coach is like the first team coach.

What's the "Girls Aloud" reference? I admit, I'm not "down with the kids" on this issue

Strauss has had talks with the ECB if anyone wants to know.

I suppose in the selectors eyes he ticks a box or two more than Cook or Bell but I can't say I'll be dancing for joy if he's appointed.
